SOCOM: Confrontation Pushed Back To 2009 In Europe?

Well, we never like giving our friends across the pond bad news - and things had been going so well lately, too! - but it appears that SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation has slipped into next year for Europe.

The solid online multiplayer shooter started out on wobbly legs due to a horde of technical issues, but has since stabilized and become one of the best online experiences out there. It has been available in North America since October 14, but has always had a "TBA 2008" release estimate for Europe. And now, according to European game site Area 51, SCEE has announced that instead of a late-November release (which they apparently had planned), they won't release Confrontation until early next year. That's when the game will finally make its debut in both Blu-Ray and digital download formats, so sadly, it seems Euro gamers won't get the chance to head online for some intense, realistic, tactical fun until 2009. Granted, we haven't seen an official announcement for this just yet, but then again, as we're based here in the U.S., we probably wouldn't see such a press release in our inbox. But if SCEE clarifies this at any point, we'll be sure to let you know; here's hoping they issue a concrete release date.

You needn't worry, though. There are a ton of great games out there for the holiday season (yes, even over there in Europe), so perhaps this is one title you can wait for. Won't it take at least some time to finish all these gems released in October and November, anyway?

The people over there have my sympathies, I didn't buy the game but if I wanted too and couldn't get it I know I would be upset

man, some people say that Japanese devs ignore the states, and that American devs ignore Japan, but, unfortunately for Das Euros, they get ignored by BOTH.

ah, well. Bummer.

I'm not saying that I want them to drop the ball in the US either, It just seems like Europe is kind of an afterthought when it comes to PS3. Why not have a similtanous release?

They make a huge mistake in not treating the EU better because they do make more money there than the US but whatever.

And releasing this game now will be kind of pointless, by then Kz2 will be out. And everyone who REALLY wanted they game would've imported it by now.

Damn, I don't understand why they'd do that. At least for the English speaking areas...Hey! I know it might sound stupid but does your version (British) have an inflection too? Or does it sound like an American accent? Just wonderin... : )

its stuff like this that really amazes me, i dont understand when a game is done n finished by october, it cant be released for several months else where. i kno it might take longer for tthe translation into diff langauges but with it being an online only game, surely its only the menu screen that would need to be translated and obvs with britain, u wudnt even need to be translated, i live in england and i got mine from ebay a month ago, thank god this generation games arnt region locked is all am saying.!

This is idiotic. If you REALLY wanted this game, you'd have bought it off the US PSN store by now.
