Batman: Arkham Asyum: "Best Batman Game Ever Made"?
Although we still don't have a release date, we keep hearing whispers of highly positive feedback from sources who have already gone eyes-on and hands-on with Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Australian site GamePlayer is one of those sources, and not only is the feedback positive, it's downright glowing. You'll want to read the entire full-length preview for yourself - there are new screenshots to ogle, too - but as a brief summary, they say that Arkham Asylum could end up being the best Batman game ever created. With multiple gadgets, multiple villains, and apparently, multiple reasons for fans of the Caped Crusader to enjoy this game, GamePlayer was fittingly impressed.
"Allow us to introduce Batman: Arkham Asylum. We were utterly absorbed, and we think you will be too. This is sizing up to be the best Batman game ever made. Not just for the combat, which is fluid, intuitive, and brutal. Not just for the gadgets and gizmos in the Caped Crusaders Utility Belt. Not just for the rich detail, and daring design work. Theyre all great, but the most promising aspect of all is the rogues gallery: the villains."
The game itself is described as a "third/first-person action-adventure" that doesn't use only one Batman venue as its inspiration. Evidently, this title draws from everything; the cartoons, movies, comics, and even other games. They compare the architecture to that of "something right out of Bioshock," which is excellent news as far as we're concerned, and in the end, Batman: Arkham Asylum could end up being the perfect game for all you superhero fans out there. We'll have to keep a close eye on this one; when they provide us with a solid release date, we'll fill you in.
