PS3 Wireless Keypad Releases On November 28 In UK

Although we've heard that the PlayStation 3 wireless keypad was delayed until next month in North America, it appears it'll still make it to European store shelves in November.

According to Strategy Informer, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that the very cool wireless keypad will be available in the UK on November 28 for the price of £24.99. Initially unveiled at the Leipzig Games Convention, this is the unit that clips onto either the Sixaxis or Dual Shock 3 controller and it allows you to use a keypad for message typing. This bypasses the need to utilize the on-screen keyboard on the PS3 - which is cumbersome - and the keypad even boasts a mouse input and a touch-pad. If you have one of these, you may be more inclined to browse the 'Net on Sony's machine, and it certainly makes online communication with other gamers a bit easier. Granted, most people are using headsets for in-game comms, but this keypad is more versatile; it's best used for other Internet-related activities. It could be a very nice gift for PS3 owners this holiday season, too.

U.S. gamers can expect this nifty accessory to hit store shelves during the first week of December, so either way, it'll be available in both regions within the next couple of weeks. For some, this is a must-have peripheral.

I can see how some people will be all over this,it still doesn't interest me. If i'm surfing the net I don't want to type onto a small keypad, I'd rather use a full size Keyboard. I never got into the whole texting thing, I think it has something to do with having broken my thumb once and now it's not as quick and flexible as it should be. It's a neat gadget, but I'd rather they come out with a voice recognition system or something. Say what website you want to go visit and it comes up...that would be neat. Something like the system in End War works, but with more options. (hold R2, speak: "www" "dot" "psxextreme" "dot" "com", release R2) Although you'd have to be careful, PSXextreme could be accidently translated to a different site if not pronounced clearly, lol, but it could store a library of words you use most, like predictive text.

I know it's not a perfect system but I think it would be neat to try. Help get rid of all the peripherals cluttering up the living room too. But that's just my thought on it.

ROFL!

I prefer to use a full size keyboard too but this thing is great just to have.

This sounds great but I'm with CH1N00K. I can type over 40 wps. on a full size keyboard but since I can only use my thumbs on a keypad, it could take several minutes to type something.

This will be great for HOME! Sites are saying in the next 2-3 weeks, Open Beta!
If it catches on, it might be good for developers (More buttons).

this seemed good at first but its WAY too expensive. im not gonna spend the equivalent of a new controller for a keypad attachment.

As long as they don't patent it, I don't see why they can't develop it. Sure someone might steal it from them, but they could at least start it right? Unless they find some legal loophole that lets them patent a key part of the system for it to work.

I'm with Bardock, i can use a new controller more than a keypad, especially since theres about 10 usb keyboards and mice floating around the house.

maybe when they cut it to $15, but for now? aint gonna happen.

they apparently cut BC to fund hardware and accessory dev. to help drop prices on Accessories yet SIXAXIS is still 49.99 and DS3's are 55.99 STILL. im gonna try buying a DS3 used from GameStop or from a closing Circuit City.

It needs to be cheaper, like £10 or £15, then people would buy it

I'm not sure that this would be worth it. I mean yeah, it's pretty neat and I do send a lot of messages on my PS3 but thats a little pricey.

Tbh i don't see why you lot are complaining about the price? If you get a decent keyboard and mouse then it'll cost around £40, for a proper good one. Yeah fair enough you can get cheap ones, but they are likely to malfunction or have a low life span. This is cheap...and it comes out on launch date of R2...blates getting both :D
