Nintendo Unveils First Batch Of Virtual Console Games

It appears that all three hardware players in the console industry are recognizing the importance of making older games available to consumers. Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade has been offering retro titles ever since the launch of the 360, and Sony just recently announced its plans to provide classic PS1 titles available for download via the PlayStation Store and PS3.

Nintendo's "Virtual Console" has already been announced, but up until yesterday, the company hadn't revealed any of the games planned for the service. Now, it appears the first set of VC titles - all available by the end of the year - has been confirmed. They number 30 in all, and they will come from Nintendo, Sega, and Hudson.

Furthermore, we also have the price points for these games. NES titles start at 500 Wii Points ($5), TurboGrafx-16 games at 600 Wii Points ($6), Super NES and Sega Genesis games at 800 Wii Points ($8), and N64 games at 1,000 Wii Points ($10). Those valuable points will be available online or at retail stores in separate packs of 2,000 with a SRP of $20.
