The Wheelman Rolls In On February 16
In most cases, we really wouldn't care so much about the release date of a game based on a movie. But because both the film and game have been going through the progression stages at about the same time, it's hard to say which came first...the chicken or the egg. Maybe the movie is based on the game...
Well, whatever. We do know that, according to Joystiq, it has been announced that The Wheelman will hit store shelves in North America on February 16. Published by Midway and developed by Tigon Studios, responsible for the excellent debut title, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, we consider this to be a very promising next-gen title. Some of you out there may not be Vin Diesel fans, but he remains the first and only Hollywood actor who didn't let us down with his first video game. Tigon has talent and they've had extra time with this one - it was initially supposed to come out this month - so why not have high expectations? The game has you careening through the streets (perhaps ala Burnout) in an effort to climb the underground latter as an undercover agent. You'll rip up the city, which is half the point, and with 24 main missions and over 100 side missions, there should be plenty to do. This project reminds us a little of the old Driver series, which made a big splash on the original PlayStation.
If you want to learn more, feel free to check out our full preview; it might be well worth a look come February. After all, when's the last time you played a true-blue racing/action game? They're not that common...
