Jaffe's New Game Coming In 2010?

Some people were disappointed when David Jaffe left Sony to set up his own studio; after all, he was responsible for some of the finest PS2 games ever (God of War and God of War II, Twisted Metal: Black), and we all know he'd knock God of War III out of the park.

But we still have faith in the Santa Monica team for GoWIII, and we've been waiting for new details concerning Jaffe's new project. His studio, Eat Sleep Play, has been quiet recently, but that's only because they're just getting started. We still have no idea what their mystery game is, but Jaffe hinted at the possibility of a 2010 release, and further said he'd be heading to Sony to talk about it. The quote directly from his blog-

"As for promoting the new game, when is that, you ask? Well at least I hope you ask! Who knows. Going to visit Sony today but we prob. won't pick a launch day. My gut/guess tells me we're looking sometime in 2010. Certainly not later than that. Perhaps sooner."

Okay, so here's the real question: because Jaffe isn't providing us with any specific clues, what do you want the game to be? Action/adventure like GoW? Something more unique like Twisted Metal? See, we've been wanting a Twisted Metal for the PlayStation 3 for quite a while, and some rumors in the past have led us to believe that Eat Sleep Play is working on it. The only caveat to this idea is that Jaffe has said his studio wants to focus more on "simpler" or "more casual" titles; games a lot of people can sit down and enjoy. You know, he wants to adopt a pick-up-and-play mentality. So...does something like Twisted Metal qualify? Er...

Well a quick "pick up and play" game shouldn't take untill 2010 to develope. It must be something more involved.

I believe that it is going to be the next twisted metal for PS3 given the message in Head-On.

But the real question is how long will they make exclusive games for Sony. They are in a 3 game exclusivity contract but after that will we be seeing a GoW-ish game on 360?

I think that Jaffe will stay loyal to Sony as long as he can keep his dev company up and running. He seems like the type of person that will worry more about the quality of a game on one console rather than just going out and making crappy games just to make some money.

And yeah it would be tight to have a Twisted Metal game on the ps3, it was always one of my favorites on ps2... but I have a feeling he is gonna come out with something big for the first game out of his studio.

well with a man of his talent at the head it should be great wat ever he comes out with.
But if i had to guess i'd put my money on a downloadable maybe of twisted metal or something else.
What i really want to see on the ps3 is some more hardcore thrid person shooters i hate "the club, kane and lynch" type bullsh*t.
give me more uncharted.....NOW.

I loved uncharted, except for teh switch to survival horror at the end. that kinda cheezed me off.

If Naughty Dog did uncharted, but with a Jak and Daxter slap of paint on it, I would be ALL over that game.

I'm thinking something loke GoW if it's taking until 2010. A pick up and play can't take that long, unless it's a huge pick up and play.

im hearing that trophies are mandatory after jan 09,this is a good sign of less patchs and the like and the such.

lightshow i liked the twist,it made it feel kinda like Indy coz all the myths and magic are blended together in a realistic world and give them more option for uncharted 2 which i hope is coming

That "more casual" stamp scares the hell out of me.

I believe that Jaffe is waiting for his opportunity to show off his team's project as soon as SCEA gives him the green light...

Depends on which TM you're talking about. TM1 and especially TM2 were great (the latter is one of my fav games of all time), but TM3 and TM4 sucked.

Hope it's no more Twisted Metal....
They've gotta move on from that

But should be awesome, Jaffe is all 'bout fun.

He doesn't care 'bout all the crazy money. He knows that as long as the game is fun and creative the game will sell.

But yes we'll see, he hasn't done anything great since GOW...

In regards to casual games, I love what he did with Calling All Cars. While a simple game, it was meant to have an awesome MP component in which, I think, he did well at. I don't know how many times I've played it online or with a friend, but trash talking was always getting out of hand, haha.

I hope his next game is something similar, although all I care about now is a new TM and GoW3.
