Home Beta Invites Sent To North American PS3 Owners
Over the past few months, whenever we had to do a story regarding PlayStation Home beta invites, there was always a lot of erroneous information (not our fault, damnit) and more than a few rumors. We were never really sure if any North American PS3 users had received an invite to the closed beta, for example...but now we know.
I have gotten my invite to the beta and I know many of our readers have found the happy e-mail in their inboxes. So without any doubt, the first round of Home beta invites has gone out in the U.S., and if you haven't seen one, don't fret; we imagine more are on the way. Either that, or the launch of the open beta is only a few weeks off, which means you won't have to wait long, anyway. We're going to dive in later on and give you our impressions ASAP, but in the meantime, let us remind you of something: PlayStation Home is barely more than a foundation right now. When you see the open beta, that's exactly what it is; an open beta. Sony has a long ways to go - they're well aware of that fact - and in a couple years time, Home will look and feel nothing like it does now. The possibilities are limitless and given feedback from users and the creativity of the Home designers, we're confident Home will be a major selling point of the PS3. It kinda is now, but many strides have yet to be taken.
Oh, and we are hoping that all these rumors about certain aspects of Home coming with a price tag aren't trustworthy. As far as we know, Home is a free service and will remain that way, although we wouldn't be surprised to see some "premium content" go for a few bucks here and there.

before I had the Beta file in my 'Beta file' folder, 1.00 gives its own icon, so now it feels real not strictly Beta.
its got to be close!!!!
Apart from maybe some new face stuff and clothes, there is nothing new from this version to the next, yet the 77meg download must accout for something.
I say we're bloody close to a full launch here chaps!
Any news on the forum Ben/ AK? its been tooooo long :(

You see, I am really awesome. And when you're as awesome as me, people give you stuff.
(Translation: I've bought enough of Sony's products in my life that they feel my opinion holds some kind of weight. I've registered both my PS2, PS3, PSP, and list of games on the Playstation Underground, which got me into GAP, which gets me into betas.)

Wow, is this ever BETA!
I do think this does have potential in the future to be fun and interesting, but right now it seems a little early to yell hooray!
The games inside are full of bugs, there are major collision detection issues with the graphics, the sound is glitchy at times... the list goes on.
I do find it a cool concept don't get me wrong, I just am not sure I want to virtually wander around in a simulated world being assaulted with Sony advertisements and having a dozen strangers invite me to their friends list.
That last one was kinda creepy. I had no less than 10 people who I walked past send invites. I never looked at them or typed to them or spoke over the mic to them; they just added me. What's up with that?
If I walked down the street and every 10 people or so stepped up to me and said "Hey, wanna be my friend!?"; I'd run. I'd run real fast until I got out of that neighbourhood. That's just creepy.
My big question is: What is Sony's goal with this?
Okay, all done; flame away!

Does anyone who is in the beta know what happened to the Uncharted and Far cry 2 rooms? Earlier I was able to see them in the world map, but no more after the latest update.

Today (Nov 24), when I checked my email, there was ANOTHER invite, with a different Redeem Code.
Now I know that I had tried to sign up for Home Beta multiple times (on their Home Trial page), but it was all using the same email address (used for my PSN). I find it hard to believe I got multiple invites :).

I gotta say it is impressive. I am not a SIM's player, but this is pretty sweet.
