Jaffe On God Of War III: "Looks Like A Painting Come To Life"

Well, David Jaffe is certainly making waves with his most recent blog posts, and while his new game remains shrouded in mystery, he did get a chance to see God of War III.

Remember how he said he was going to Sony to talk about Eat Sleep Play's project? And of course, you remember Jaffe's involvement in the critically acclaimed God of War games? Then it would be correct to assume that it would take one whole hell of a lot to impress him, yes? Okay then, here is his direct reply after laying eyes on God of War III for the first time:

a- HOLY HOLY HOLY FU**ING HELL!

b- I thought GEARS OF WARS 2 looked about as good as a next-gen game could look... and that game is currently- and will probably remain- my game of the year. And hell, I think I actually get to vote on that kind of stuff in some circles :) And unless I get blown away by POP or something else I missed, GEARS 2 is the SH**... this year. Dudes and dudettes, fu**ing WAIT till you see the amazing graphics... just fu**ing wait. ...this mother fu**ing game looks like nothing you've ever played... and you can hold me to that when this thing hits and when they start showing gameplay footage. It looks like a painting come to life- it's THAT good looking."

Good goddamn. Anybody excited yet? We only got to see a brief teaser at E3 this year and since then, the Santa Monica studio hasn't released any further info or media on the hotly anticipated action title. But think about it: the PS3 already has Killzone 2 and possibly even Gran Turismo 5 next year. If God of War III is going to be this good, perhaps it's already safe to say that 2009 will be the "year of the PS3"...again.

I recently played them few years back and it is awesome story with little puzzles in the game play, Very awesome. Give them a try and see what all the hype is about.

Ben you should do your reviews in that tone of writing..lol..but WOW, if Jaffe is that excited about it...someone's either paid him a lot to do it, or this game is going to be SAWEEEET!

Now please tell me that this game isn't going Multi-Plat....lol

Paid? No, he's no longer on the Sony staff; he's got his own studio and Jaffe is one of those people who says what he thinks...all the time. Trust me, if the game had looked less than impressive, he would've said so. ;)

Agreeing with BEN here. Read through his entire blog before. He's a bit of a "Loose Canon". All honest and sometimes a bit harsh. If anything GoW bein his baby before I'd see reason for him to hate on it thinkin "I'd of done it better"...but if he was that impressed...HOLY CRAP!!!

Yeah, I know, I was kind of kidding about Jaffe being paid off. It's just while I was reading the article, I was also thinking about what Sony needs to do about their marketing and thought, well this could be it! A little word of mouth reactions. And nothing gets a better reaction then an edited for Content quote like that. Makes you want to run out and buy another PS3 it's going to be that good! lol Maybe I've just hung out with to many marketing people...I don't trust anyone anymore.

That would be awesome to do a commercial that's just composed of people's reactions to seeing the game (a la 2 girls, 1 cup), but never actually show the game. That would pique SO much interest!

Damnit, Sony, you need to hire me for marketing and promotion.

never played god of war?! you're kidding me. my two most treasured ps2 games. unfortunately i haven't picked up the psp adventure. i almost kinda wish that they wait until the end of the ps3's life cycle though. those two games really pushed the ps2 to its limits. ahh, you guys just made me wanna pop it in

Well from what I understand the PS3 has a ways to go. Theres always a chance that GoW4 could come out towards the end of the life cycle.

You guys are really doing yourselves a disservice by not playing the other ones. They pushed the ps2's graphics to the max so they should'nt seem too outdated to the next gen crowd. Both of them are in my top 10 games of all time! Even the psp one was so much fun, I could'nt put my psp down for a weekend.

I only played the first one so far and it's great, gonna pick up the second one when my budget allows me to.

I can't wait for the third one though, that reaction was clearly something else. Graphics ain't everything, but if they are that good, they do mean a lot. And on top of that, if everything from the earlier incarnations of the series are preserved... look out people, the god of war might just kill you next year.

LOL. Geez, he is a bit excited isn't he?

The first two were no doubt the best games for the PS2, but if the graphics are superior to that of GoW2 (not gears), then holy f*** is right! Now I'm even more stoked for this game!

But seriously, I can't take it anymore. They really need to release another video, like NOW!

i remember some article saying its like watching Beowulf. There is no way this game will ever go multiplatform coz SCE is both developer and publisher.

oh man, i wish i wouldn't have read this as now i officially can't wait for this game to come out. by the way, yes, play the first two GoW's if you've not yet. GoW2 on the PS2 still gives some PS3 titles a run for their money. When I first saw GoW 2 on the PS2 the first thing that came to my mind was 'why the hell aren't other companies doing anything this good for the ps2?' I can only imagine what they're gonna do with the ps3.

I played God Of War on my mates recomendation. I had it completed after a week. I got the 2nd one and was very impressed once again. Cant wait for the 3rd one. Wonder how long they will go on for as loong as they make money probably :)

I played GoW2 but not 1, I'm getting CoO for christmas and Im getting GoW1 for my dad, but I think I'm gunna play it more :)

And as for pushing the PS2 to it's limites, did anyone see the ending scene to Onimusha Dawn of Dreams, where the guy (forget his name now) Goes super Onimusha? Those graphics were probably just as good as the CGI in GoW2.

i played both god of wars in poland on an old black and white tv. I loved the gameplay and story, but the graphics were obviously "meh". Am i missing alot of the essence of GOW? BTW the end of god of war 2 was awesome, a real cliffhanger(pun intended)

This is why I laugh at the xbots that ask me sardonically, "Ha, what games to you play on that PS3?" They think the games we got now are the best the PS3 can do, but it's only getting better.

Is anyone else as excited about the 2009 line-up as I am?

GOW3, Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, the launch of Home, GT5...*sighs*...it's good to Play B3yond.

Well said Ben. The 2008 line-up was great. Microsoft had 3 great exclusives, but Sony had like...what?...7. I'm just glad it's almost over. I love all the games I picked up but MAN...I was lil' overwhelmed in October.

DAMN all you guys, now I have to go play GoW2 all night. Jaffe sure knows how to hype a game that isn't even his! I'm excited about this and his own IP, cuz you know that first game a new software company puts out pretty much makes or breaks the company.

I think we are going to get an early peep at what PS3 mid-console-life limit pushing is going to look like with GoW3 and I am F*cking salivating.

Kratos is definitely one of the greatest new heroes of gaming!

God it's so amazing to see this franchise kick ass in every new game it comes out with.....

God of War II was such a thrill, even challenging last year's ps3 games like Uncharted and Heavenly Sword.

There will be chaos dammit!
