Destroy All Humans! Path Of The Furon To Launch With Giveaways
If you need to take a step back from all the seriousness involved in the likes of recent blockbusters, and maybe if the holiday shoppers are already starting to get on your nerves, you may require a leisure release.
Enter Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon for the PlayStation 3, which launches first thing next week. This latest entry in the amusing series picks up where Big Willy Unleashed leaves off, where players control Crypto in the 1970s. A new enemy is attacking Earth, and if Crypto and his pals want to solidify their place on this planet, they must fight the good fight (well, good for the Furon, anyway). There's "expanded open-world gameplay" to enjoy, new weapons and mental abilities, and the general satisfying fun of ripping apart the place humans once called their own. If you want to learn more and watch a very cool preview trailer, visit CryptoEnhance.com and check things out. You will definitely want to enter your name in that contest. All you have to do is enter your information and you're automatically in the drawing for a $50 GameStop gift card or a sleek new 32" HDTV! No purchase required; just jump on over and sign up for a shot at the goodies.
The site also boasts other trailers, game designer interviews and wallpapers, and for added fun, there will be a Destroy All Humans! bobblehead doll giveaway at certain GameStops across the country. All you need to do is provide your proof of purchase and the bobblehead is yours; we expect they'll just toss it into your bag when you pick up the game. So next week, kick back, relax, and prepare to grin and blast.

I'm with you. I've been wondering about the status of this game since last week when I noticed it wasn't listed on GameStop any more (or Amazon for that matter). I know its not the greatest series, but I really enjoyed the PS2 games (except for Big Willy, which was cancelled. Had to buy that for the Wii).

When combined with the fact that THQ apparently shut down the dev studio working on it at the start of November and underwent some big structural and policy changes, I guess it no longer made sense to hold back for what may well have been a lacklustre port of a game that wasn't really on the radar for many people anyway.
That Ben actually talked to a PR person who thought the PS3 game still existed is a bit odd though.

"Destroy All Humans: Path of the furon in Europe on February 13 at the Microsoft Xbox 360 as the Sony Playstation 3 will appear. The decision to play in the U.S. market only on the Xbox 360 to market is a result of an early release on Dec. 2 in North America.
So the ps3 version will be with us in feb weee

However, scrapping the PS3 NA release entirely is just odd. It must mean that there is still either a skeleton staff at the developer steadily ironing out the issues in porting to PS3 or THQ have another team doing it, and either way there would be no reason not to release the PS3 version when it's ready. Any languages the NA version needs to be translated into (which probably factors into why the EU version is arriving later) would already be covered for an EU version.
Are there perks to being a 360 exclusive? I know for some games MS have covered the marketing and allowed lower licensing fees for exclusives, so perhaps there was some benefit to stopping the NA release entirely instead of releasing it in March. That's all speculation though.
