Does The Revamped Alone In The Dark: Inferno Deliver?
Earlier this year, the highly anticipated Alone in the Dark launched to highly disappointing reviews. The Xbox 360 version was only mediocre and the PS2 version was absolute trash, which is why PlayStation 3 owners weren't so annoyed that their version was delayed. At that point, it was like...who cares?
But Eden Studios has been saying ever since then that they've overhauled the entire game for Sony's console, and that includes everything from control and gameplay foundation tweaks to added storyline sequences. The question is, now that this revamped title has hit store shelves for the PS3, did Eden deliver on its promise? We've been following this story for quite some time, and we know survival/horror fans always enjoy a worthwhile experience. Well, so far, the game is pulling down 7s, which isn't fantastic, but it's certainly better than before. Several reviews are saying that Alone in the Dark: Inferno is certainly the version to have, and while it can't stand up to the likes of Dead Space, it might still be worth your time if you're a fan of the genre. Hence, it's our recommendation that even though it's probably not worth the full price of admission, it might need a spot on your holiday wish list. I mean, you wouldn't have to pay for it, right?
It's unfortunate they couldn't make it even better, but the good news for the developer is that survival/horror titles are few and far between. Besides Dead Space and Silent Hill: Homecoming, there aren't many options for fans (although we hear Left 4 Dead on the 360 rocks the house). Perhaps if you're done with these, Inferno is a decent option.
