Koei Releases New Bladestorm Details
Koei is best known for its historical epic games, and their latest will continue the tradition set by titles like Dynasty Warriors and Kessen. This time around, though, they're traveling to Europe for the upcoming PS3 title, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War.
The English and the French go toe-to-toe in the legendary Hundred Years' War, and as the player, you'll control a mercenary army...that's right, this means you can decide to support whichever side you wish. You'll have to manage resources to recruit a bunch of special units, such as soldiers of fortune, castle siege specialists, and even elephants. On top of that, you've got Spearmen and Longspear designed to deal with hard-charging cavalry, Armored Axe-Men to deal out some heavy up-close-and-personal damage, and Longbow-Men for the always-valuable long-range strikes. Heck, Archers can even mount horses and become part of a cavalry unit.
That enough for you? If not, there's a little more- each stage will include more than 20 different types of strongholds, and that should mean everything from castles to churches. From the sound of things, this one could be a strategy fan's dream.
And finally, the game - developed by Omega Force - features a large cast of historical legends. You're likely to see huge names like Joan of Arc, Prince Edward, the Black Prince, and many others. Koei hasn't yet announced an official release date for Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War, but they do expect it to be available in the first half of 2007.
