GT5 Slated For Holiday 2009 Release?
Around the time Gran Turismo 5: Prologue released, we had heard that the full Gran Turismo 5 was a long ways off; perhaps as late as mid-2010. However, since then, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has laughed off the estimate and recently hinted that the highly anticipated simulator might release "sooner" than we all might think.
Now, we've got more fuel for the release rumor fire. According to a statement made by Sony's chief executive in southern Europe, James Armstrong, to Spanish newspaper El Financiero, GT5 is expected to release during the 2009 holiday season. Obviously, we expect this includes only European territories, but we'd like to think that a huge title like this will get the simultaneous worldwide launch treatment. Here's the direct translated quote from the paper, courtesy of GTPlanet:
"For next year, the chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment for southern Europe said that they are developing a new game thriller, in which the player may be designing their own history, and the new version of Gran Turismo, which will arrive at Christmas."
Yeah, it's a broken translation but you get the gist. If GT5 doesn't release simultaneously in all major regions, this would point towards a late-summer/early-fall release for Japan and a November/December launch window for the U.S. and Europe. Obviously, it would make for yet another massive PS3 exclusive blockbuster for the holidays, and that'd be good news for Sony. As soon as someone can corroborate Armstrong's statements, we'll let you know; in the meantime, just cross your fingers for the best possible result. Oh, and we'll keep you updated on that impending Prologue DLC, too.

Anyone remember the amazing commercials Gran Turismo 3 got? Legendary...
Oh oh let's not forget the Crash Bandicoot commercials :3
They just don't advertise some games as much and as well as they should.
Don't understand why Uncharted wasn't advertised more in a catchy way...

The best racing franchise of all time
Can't wait for GT5 to blow me away
Proud to own every Gran Turismo to date!
I ask not to judge GT5 based on GT5P.
One of the things GT is known for is for its great simulation mode.
The online will be great, but not all of us are great online. I'm hoping that most of us will get into simulation mode first instead of judging the game by its online play.
PS: As I always say, online is just a bonus.

Btw, Offtopic but.. Ben have you seen the new Playstation Network commercial on TV? I think they do a very poor job in advertising what the Playstation Network has to offer.. im very dissapointed... Really, they NEED a whole new advertising team, because whatever they have ATM is only running the pooper.
