Game Informer To Officially Unveil Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was one of the best games of 2007 and also one of our personal favorites, so we're all kinds of excited to report the first details of the much-anticipated sequel.
We knew Naughty Dog was planning to do another Uncharted title quite some time ago, but the official unveiling now comes courtesy of Game Informer, which will feature Uncharted 2: Among Theives on the cover of the next issue. The 2008 Video Game Awards on Spike has a special debut teaser, too, which is something you'll probably want to see. The Game Informer article will be 10 pages worth of breaking information and details, as Nathan Drake returns to set out on a new adventure with legendary explorer Marco Polo at the center of the story. We only have a few early gameplay details, but we know the developers are adding new elements of stealth plus a "free climbing mechanic;" both of which will require more elaboration. As far as we're concerned, they could just use the same gameplay mechanic found in the first title and give us an all-new story and environment...that'd make us happy enough. But we have to applaud devs for taking another step, and besides, reviewers these days are all anal about sequels being "innovative" in some way ('cough' Edge 'cough').
Okay, so now it's time to put Uncharted 2: Among Thieves atop your "most-anticipated" list, and cross your fingers that Naughty Dog will issue a release date soon. And be sure to stay tuned for any and all new developments, which we'll be sure to provide you with.
