Home Stores Get Stocked Today
Hey! Talk about springing up out of the blue...of course, this may only refer to UK gamers right now, but let's hope this includes North America as well.
As you can see by this update over at the SCEE forums, the PlayStation Home servers will be offline until 7 a.m. today (UK time), while Sony makes a few new changes. Once it's back, beta testers will finally be able to purchase new items from the stores in the Mall, which have been closed up until this point. Of course, we're still not sure exactly how we'll go about buying this new stuff - a concrete mode of gathering funds hasn't been established yet - but we're hoping to nab a few new things for our temporary Home space today. We'd also like to know if anything we buy now will transfer over when Home becomes an open public beta later this month, but that's just another question that may not be answered immediately. For the time being, we remain impressed with what we've seen of Home so far, and we're fully convinced it will become a very special and revolutionary service over the next few years.
If this only applies to testers in the UK, then it's too bad for everyone else. But we'll find out soon enough, and we look forward to any new updates Sony provides.

PSN is a for core gamers. Do I want to mess around putting different shades of check trousers on with my sports casual jacket, or do I want to get online and so some FPS action?
I think I'll take the 2nd option.
As for text messaging others. I have exactly want I want in a friends list - it does the job perfectly. It tells me who's online and what they're playing.
I really cant see what everyone's going on about. the in-game XMB was a much bigger deal than this p.o.s.
As a secondary point, and it might be me being dumb here - but what effect is this going to have on PSN traffic? People diving out into home when hosting online peer- to peer? Doesnt sound great to me.
