LucasArts Unleashes Star Wars DLC

Many fans of the long-running series enjoyed Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, but now there's a whole new reason to load it back up and play some more. Yep, it's the first batch of downloadable content!

According to GameSpot, LucasArts has released this new pack for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game; the add-on content features an all-new level complete with the Secret Apprentice! This fresh mission is set in the Jedi Temple, and you will play as Darth Vader's apprentice: your objective will be to discover clues to Vader's origin, which ought to appeal to all hardcore aficionados out there. This update will also boast nine new character skins (including Mace Windu and Darth Maul), and you can nab this bad boy for only $10 (or 800 Microsoft Points). If you like, you can just pick up the costume pack for $5 (400 MS Points), but we have to recommend going the whole way and picking up that new mission. Some complained that The Force Unleashed was too short, but as we all know, downloadable content can be the cure for any brief title. Besides, we know a few Star Wars fans out there...and they always have to have anything new related to their beloved franchise. Well, this qualifies, so get your butts moving.

We also keep hearing rumors about a new "Star Wars" movie based on or inspired by The Force Unleashed, but all of that is just hopeful speculation. Maybe something interesting will come of this, though.

Lucas is out of his mind not to try a movie that can undo some of the damage done by the prequels.

Maybe when Lucas dies the rights to the franchise will flip over to someone who still has creativity, vision, and talent. I would love to see a new good Star Wars. But at this point it would either have to be a sequel to part 6, or a completely different time frame with brand new characters and plots.

When Lucas dies, i believe he's already said that he's a greedy old fart and wants no one to have the rights to the Star Wars franchise, but i may be wrong. It was a LONG time ago when I heard this. Who knows. I, personally don't see it getting any better than the classics unless blood shed and gore is integrated. Now, i'd love to see that happen, but unfortunately its only in my dreams.

Let's not forget that Lucas is a flip flopper, he is on record saying that Star Wars was supposed to be a 9 part series, and then later he said there were never plans or scripts for 7-9 and there never will be. The guy just changes his mind a lot.

Yeah, I'm with this guy... Where is it? I just have the overpriced costume pack. Seriously, that thing should only be like $2. Or free. It's just costumes.

no kidding. if this new mission ever does hit the store, it ought to be free or maybe $5. but 10? thats pretty ridiculous considering we already spent 60 on the fun but way-too-short game.

from what i've read elsewhere, the mission pack is $10 and includes some costumes, plus there is a totally separate new costume pack for another $5 (not the same costumes as those included with the mission).
LucasArts apparently announced the two new add-ons were available for 360 and ps3, but evidently they failed to get it to Sony in time to actually get it into Thursday's store update.
