LucasArts Hasn't Abandoned Indy
In the category of, "hey, whatever happened to that game?" some people have been wondering if LucasArts are still planning to release that Indiana Jones video game.
In 2008, LucasArts gave us Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Fracture, and we expected to learn a lot more about that Indy game they had in development. However, it mysteriously dropped off the radar in recent months - we had expected plenty in the way of concrete details in 2008 - and some have thought the publisher had quietly canceled the project. The good news is that, according to PSU, the long-awaited title is still on the way. Said one LucasArts representative:
"LucasArts remains absolutely committed to the Indiana Jones franchise. While we are aware that fans have been eagerly awaiting additional information on the upcoming game, they can rest assured that details are forthcoming."
If you're not familiar, the developers are using a lot of the same technology found in The Force Unleashed, which features Natural Motion's Euphoria Engine and Havok physics. We first caught wind of this game way back in 2006, but now we're at least hoping for updated information in the next few months. And provided things are going well in the development process, we should also see the final Indiana Jones title next year. Yeah, it has certainly missed coinciding with the latest movie, but we'd like to assume the game's quality will speak for itself when the time comes.
