Sony Will Continue To Work Through Home Technical Issues
Not surprisingly, the open beta launch of PlayStation Home wasn't without its fair share of technical problems yesterday, but rest assured, Sony is pushing through the obstacles.
As of right now, we've been able to jump into Home and examine the newly revamped Central Plaza and the stores in the Mall, plus we were able to test out the mini-game Saucer Pop and several of the arcade titles in the Bowling Alley. We learned that it will cost real money to purchase items at the stores, but the items are quite cheap and in retrospect, you could go on a complete buying spree with only $20. Hell, I think you could purchase every item currently available for that amount; the only new Estate available is a Summer House for $4.99, and various threads for your avatar and pieces of furniture and other decorations for your Space range from $0.49 to $1.99, with the average sitting at about $1. Obviously, Sony will add many more items as time goes on, and we should reach a point where we can start transporting our PS3 media directly into our Homes. Everything is as pretty as we remember from the closed beta, and there are plenty of people wandering about.
Earlier in the day, we couldn't sign in, but now we can, although we still encounter the Network Disconnect error every now and then. This apparently hasn't been 100% fixed yet, but Sony continues to issue updates. Most of them just say, "we're working on it," and they have made progress, so at least they ain't lying. For the most part, this is exactly the social community we were hoping for, and once Sony gets past these initial snafus, things should be fine.

I'm sure this is due to excessive load...but you'd think they'd be prepared for that if they were launching it.
Edit: Woo, I'm in. Can't seem to find a decent hairstyle though.

The system's pretty cool and it's fun to interact with people from all over. Though of course there's always the douche's with their headsets on running around calling people homos and constantly whining, thank god for the mute option.

- I mean. Microsoft are charging for everything. Even for just PLAYING online. Here we get a FREE social community in which we dont have to spend a single dime..
Yes it costs if you want new virtual clothes.. But hell 1 dollar for a shirt and if you dont want to spend money in home dont!
That really isn't that big a problem..

$50 isn't really a lot of money but even if it was $5 a year it still wouldn't match up to the FREE playstation network.
Just think... if you keep paying for xbox Live for your 360 (unless it gets the common Red Ring of Death) then you would easily spend at least $200 in only 4 years. If you do xbox Live for 8 years then it would be $400 (the price of an 80gb. PS3!). After spending $400 for xbox Live and paying at least $200 for the 360 then you would spend a grand total of $100 more than what a 160gb. PS3 costs!!!

Great social environment to meet other players and make friends. Not going to spend money on items that an intern could make. Honestly, I can't give a full review. I wasn't in the closed beta. Just downloaded and played inside for about an hour last night and got kinda bored quick. I'll give more time this weekend and see if my opinion changes.
Like I said, mixed feelings.

I mean, there's only one style of glasses (plus one set of shades). If Lenscrafters did that, they'd go out of business.
