Heavy Rain Detailed Stats Revealed
Ah, how quickly we forget. What with the large number of top-quality titles that released between October and November - and the increasing Killzone 2 mania - everyone seems to have forgotten about Heavy Rain. This is one of the most anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusives in the hopper, and we figure it's time to revert your attention to what could be one of the most memorable experiences of the generation.
Thanks to a recent in-depth Eurogamer preview, we now have the game's vital statistics, which are mighty impressive. The script for this bad boy is 2,000 pages long, with 40,000 "words of non-linear dialogue," and this will translate to 60 individual scenes, each of which will run about 15-20 minutes in length. Remember, because you have plenty of freedom in terms of decision-making, you won't see them all on one play-through, but that's only further incentive to go through the game multiple times. You can check out the rest of the stats at the above link, which includes specifics about the art design (15 months of design by 10 people), Quantic Dream's outsourcing for the apparent sake of authenticity, and some seriously diligent motion capture work. The numbers sound like a big-budget Hollywood movie; 170 days of shooting in 9 months, 70 actors and stuntmen, and a grand total of over 30,000 unique animations recorded. Wow!
While we maintain that Killzone 2, God of War III and Gran Turismo 5 (again, provided it does release in 2009) will be the PS3 exclusive blockbusters next year, we have the highest expectations for Heavy Rain. We wouldn't be surprised if it became one of our favorites... We were big fans of Quantic Dream's Indigo Prophecy, and we believe Heavy Rain will be about eight million times better.

I rate it as a blockbuster in the same regard as GT5, Killzone 2, and GoW3 though. Plus it is an original IP which makes it even more anticipated for me
