Resident Evil And Fan Favorite Character Turns Up DEAD

Definite Series Spoilers Ahead!!!

Resident Evil is one of those franchises that continues to institute old faces, often to the delight of avid followers. Every time a new installment comes around, the fans ask questions like, "hey, where's Wesker?" There have been plenty of characters, but many may be saddened to learn about the death of a key - and very pretty - cast member.

The evidence is plain: a fan favorite lies in her grave, and Chris Redfield looms over it in this Famitsu 2-page advertisement for Biohazard 5 (that's RE5 in Japan, if you didn't know). Dear God...can it be? Jill Valentine is DEAD! The gravestone is clear and now everyone is absolutely freaking out; she was someone who the fans wanted to see again, although this may not be the definitive end. Oh, you know how it goes in horror movies, right? Maybe there's someone else in that grave. Maybe Jill will return as the undead...hell, maybe she's the final boss in RE5! But whatever the reason or whatever the outcome, this revelation has caused a serious stir amongst survival/horror aficionados, and many are praying it isn't true. It's hard to hold out much hope when you're facing a gravestone, but stranger things have happened in fictional lands. If it's final, though, you can rule out any chance of Jill's return in RE5 or any future entry in the long-running series. Well, that would give Capcom the opportunity create an even sexier female lead.

So, what's your take on this? Upset? Don't care? Think it's a trick? Have any inside franchise story info that might shed some light on the situation? Feel free to let us know.

i havent bin a big follower of resident evil, i only own 2 and 3 but i played the crap outta them. jill rocked and its a bummer that she is dead (if its true)

They need to make a whole game that revolves around him.

Not saying I wanted it to happen but this is something that would happen to Jill. She has a dangerous lifestyle fighting Umbrella and anything that came in her way! I'm basically saying she probably went down fighting! I can't wait to play Resident Evil 5 to find out for sure.

Agreed. The gravestone is a teaser.

Capcom would not outrightly spoil something that big before the game's release.

The teaser is to reel in attention to the game, and for RE fans to go "what ze fuc?! I have to play this to find out!"

...or maybe she is dead and it's all wishful thinking.

I certainly hope not...I'm a big RE/Jill fan :(

Since it has been advertised, it may be a ploy. Perhaps she is missing and declared dead so a stone was erected (get it?). I've used similar devices in my own fiction.

maybe she dies at the END of ResE five, or, like world said, she's declared legally dead ofter being missing for some time, or maybe a hybrid of both; she goes missing at the end of ResE five and is declared legally dead...

Maybe she dies at some point during the game. Who knows, you may wind up having to fight her later on in her undead, or worse, form. The gravestone could be a glimpse of what will happen when you kill her for good. Speculation will continue until it's release I suppose :)

I could have sworn Wesker was a antagonist in RE5, plus Wesker was an a-hole from the 1st RE and always will be. So good riddance? Either way RE5 looks epic.

Well, every RE game with a number has each character featured in two of them. Jill (1&3),Chris (1&5... CV doesn't have a number), Rebecca(0&1), and so on. I guess we all enjoyed her presence in the games and always despise (and, refuse to accept) when a main character is killed.

Heres something to think about did anyone notice the year of death is intentionally blurred,also I have wondered about her since the resident evil movies did anyone else notice she was in resident evil apocalypse but just magically disappeared in resident evil extinction without even a mention of her.

Please don't even pretend to think that those god awful "movies" are at all canon to the Biohazard/Resident Evil series storyline. The ones responsible for those things need to die horrible deaths. They made an extremely bad zombie movie, tossed in a few references to RE and put on the RE label to get it to sell. Sorry if I sound like an A-hole here but RE is my favorite franchise ever and to see it butchered like that just about killed me. CEO, watch Resident Evil Degeneration. Now THAT'S canon and extremely well done.

Oh yeah this a little off topic but if anyone wants to try resident evil five demo on 360 go download it on the net,you know where but I aint saying.Everybody says its region locked but this aint true just dont sign into xbox live and it will play.No im not a 360 fanboy but i just had to try it and it worked and is in english.PS3 still rules in my book but figured id tell ya cause i know most of you own both consoles anyway.If your like me figured you wouldnt want to wait till it releases here perfectly legal too.Cause I dont have a modded box and it works.

I started at 4 so ya don't care. The characters I'm most attached to are the weapons dealer and those alien/predator bodyguards you only fight once or twice, they look coolest when they're just in standing in the back in their robes, not saying anything just flexing their mandibles every once in a while.
And ya I can't bring myself to watch any of the movies all the way through after a half a dozen tries or so, given up on them now, not cuz I'm that loyal to the games just cuz they're that bad.

It's not really a spoiler. It's a marketing gimmick designed to hype the game. I'm 80% sure that she isn't truly dead.
