No DLC For Call Of Duty 4
Perhaps you're one of those Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare fanatics that absolutely refuse to play another FPS. Maybe you've been waiting all this time for more downloadable content, like extra map packs. Well, don't hold your breath.
According to Gamer Limit, Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has confirmed that the team is looking forward to the future, and won't bother with DLC for CoD4. He says they'd rather focus fully on their new project(s), which likely includes the new Call of Duty, as Treyarch has already taken their turn with World at War. But you had best be happy with what you get out of the box with CoD4 because, despite the common trend of popular titles (especially FPSs) receiving downloadable content, Infinity Ward is leaving the past in the past. Said Bowling:
"If you include [the maps] out of box (shipped with game for no extra cost) then it's just ignored and people demand more. If you instead, decide to get the game out and then worry about beefing up the map selection via DLC, people say ... 'this should have been included in the shipped game.'"
You know, we have to agree. You can't please everyone and sometimes, you just can't please anyone. He makes a valid point, and in all honesty, it's lose-lose from a variety of different perspectives. Obviously, people have already gotten used to seeing new content for their favorite games as a matter of course, so we're sure disappointment will be a common reaction. But damn, isn't CoD4's excellent inherent quality enough for you? There was a time where we had to be satisfied with the product; it was the be-all, end-all. So don't be so spoiled. ;)

But good on Infinity Ward...Sort of. The problem with putting too many maps on the disc is that particular maps have specific benefits for specific gametypes.
After that's all figured out, the rest of the maps are cast aside. And then those most frequently played maps get tiring and we need something new.
But then again, rarely does a game's multiplayer actually stay popular for more than a year, mainly because they're so similar.
Plus, I really want Infinity Ward's next effort. Haven't played WaW yet (its on the way), but CoD3 didn't hold a candle to CoD2. They really are the gold standard and I can't wait to see what they have next.

However, it was still worth it. The map killhouse was excellent. you could do 1v1's on it, mess around with your friends and have small team games on it.
I'm not surprised they're not releasing anymore. They're working on COD6:MW2. I don't recall them releasing DLC for COD2 when they started working on COD4

I am going to punt that I think PSXExtreme is lining up a 10 for this game... it is just superb, there are no words to describe what they have done with the visuals...
The PS3 may have legs yet!
