Immature Males Infecting Home?
If you've spent any time online in the past few years, you know the embarrassing truth of the matter: insecure and emotionally repressed guys who suffer no consequences by acting like typical a**hole Alpha males infest online communities. They make any female gamers feel very uncomfortable, and just because this virtual contact is the closest any of them have actually gotten to a girl, they act like 4-year-olds. You know how little boys will indirectly prove they like a girl in school by making fun of her? Same thing.
Not surprisingly, this unfortunate side-effect of a worldwide social community has already popped up in PlayStation Home. Numerous videos and reports of guys acting like proper idiots around females have popped up all over the Internet, including this example right here. For the reason we just outlined above, certain men just can't seem to control themselves, which can make things nigh-on unbearable for any women who choose to jump into Home. The only issue is, how does Sony deal with this problem? Perhaps it can be something simple, like users reporting other users for abuse. Then again, we'd need some vigilant moderators who don't sleep on the job; Home is a 24-7-365 interactive application that needs around-the-clock supervision. Of course, if everyone could just manage to calm down and act their ages, this wouldn't be an issue at all.
It's humiliating. It's only proving to all the anti-game activists or all those members of the mainstream public that gamers are just big kids who have yet to grow up. And I'm the one sitting here defending the gamers against such negative talk! Then I see this stuff in Home and I want to go hide in a corner. Grow the eff up. Please.
