Metallica Talks Guitar Hero: Metallica
As soon as we heard about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, we knew it was just the beginning. Than we started hearing rumors about Guitar Hero: Metallica, which just received a massive unveiling via the band in question and USA Today.
Lead designer Adam Flores and Metallica's Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett spoke with USA Today and confirmed several important details. First of all, the game is coming sooner than we might've expected (early 2009), and you shouldn't expect a walk in the park. The guys talk about providing plastic guitarists with a challenging experience that will push even veterans of the Guitar Hero franchise. Flores said specifically that it's "a lot harder all around," as most of the songs included "have a higher level of difficulty, certainly at the end of the game when you are playing the old-school Metallica stuff." As the article points out, this is a good time to release a game based on the legendary heavy metal group; Metallica's new album, "Death Magnetic," has already gone platinum after debuting at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 chart. If you're wondering, that's the fifth consecutive album of theirs that has performed this well, and the current album received four Grammy nominations. Furthermore, with so many millions of fans around the world, this will be the perfect title for those who always wanted to tear it up, true Metallica style.
The band talks at length about the game in that USA Today interview so make sure you read their replies. We hope to have a soundtrack list soon, and an exact release date as well.

coverton341: I don't see how you like tool and in flames if you don't like Metallica. Ok you don't like them but they are one of the major influences of every good Metal band.
I personally cannot wait for this. The only reason I haven't bought WT yet is because I'm waiting for this :)

SarahPalin...? Really? Check out All Shall Perish or Unearth or even Between the Buried and Me those bands have waay more musical skill than the looped tracks of Rap and Hip Hop.

Regardless of your personal feelings toward Metallica, isn't it a bit ridiculous that they're starting to release stand alone "games" for bands rather than just offering the album tracks and character models for download?
I also somewhat agree with WorldEndsWithMe regarding their attitude towards fans.
I wonder what the non-Metallica "filler" songs are gonna be.

They don't disappoint to much. They do what they do best, and that's make music. Hell, I'd give up my whole gaming life to be able to produce one of their albums, including St.Anger, if it meant I could show off my talents and love for music. It's a dream, but it'd surely be a deal of a life time.
