Big Metal Gear News Before Year Ends
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the PatriotsYesterday, we told you about Collider's red carpet interview with Hideo Kojima at the SpikeTV Video Game Awards. But another source snagged Kojima in the same location, and their question was closer to a gamer's heart: when are we going to hear more about the next Metal Gear?
So asked 1Up in another video interview, and Kojima's answer is enough to get everyone speculating and debating. He didn't issue any specifics of any kind (no real surprise there), but he did say we'll be in store for a big announcement within the next few weeks. Some of you may remember that cryptic Metal Gear message; the one that everyone immediately assumed referred to the Xbox 360 due to the color and supposed power symbol. However, as some of the more observant pointed out, the power symbol is the same on the PlayStation 3, and the odd equation itself - not the color - is probably what matters. Will Kojima lift the lid on this message and issue the unveiling before the year is out? Perhaps it's a mobile entry for the iPhone or something else entirely, but it's good to know we may learn of the answer before 2008 is over. We'd like to think they're already talking about the new direction the series will take now that Solid Snake is done, but it may be a little early to hope for that...
Anyway, stay tuned for whatever this "big reveal" will turn out to be; Kojima rarely lets people down, so we're hoping for good news. This legendary franchise can never die!

The rumour looked pretty solid, but confirmation is always swell. The next Metal Gear game will indeed be on the iPhone, and it's called Metal Gear Solid Touch.
What's more, courtesy of Konami we now have some details on the game. It's an original title set in the MGS4 universe, and consists of 8 stages (with the promise of more to be made available later). It's obviously controlled via the touchpad (as opposed to the accelerometer), with a sniping screenshot looking a lot like the iPhone's zoom-in text editing setup.
MGS obsessives will be well catered for, with bonus points accrued through gameplay able to be traded in to unlock stuff like Metal Gear iPhone wallpapers.
It's due for a worldwide release in Spring 2009.

So, my theory, a metal gear that takes place in south america, and that whenever the enemy detects you, it'll be an upside down ! over their heads XD
