Konami Confirms Metal Gear Solid Touch For iPod, iPhone
And so, it seems we have our answer to the mystery of the cryptic MGS equation.
Thanks to an official press release today, Konami of Europe has revealed that Metal Gear Solid Touch will be on its way to the Apple iPhone and iPod some time early next year. Some of you guessed correctly while the Xbox 360 fans go home disappointed yet again. In truth, though, this probably isn't what any gamer wanted to hear; we were hoping for something more...er...meaningful. Anyway, here's a snipped from the release:
"Metal Gear Solid Touch focuses on action elements of Hideo Kojimas classic stealth series, and will see series veteran Solid Snake embark on an all-new mission."
It may be an "all-new mission" but Konami isn't about to leave hardcore Snake followers out in the cold. They'll implement "locations and characters" first introduced in MGS4 and they even plan to add more "at a later date," so much of the "new" cast should be quite recognizable to fans of the long-running franchise. Metal Gear Solid Touch will feature eight stages, so if you're on the go and you absolutely must have everything MGS, than keep an eye out for this one in 2009.
If you're at all interested, Konami also confirmed Frogger and Silent Hill: The Escape for the iPhone, which should be seeing even more in the way of support. Konami called the aforementioned "initial games" in their iPhone and iPod Touch product lineup. So...yay? Now, we have to question: is this the "big reveal" Hideo Kojima spoke about at the VGAs? Or should we expect something else in a few weeks?

Better this than xbox. Making a game on iPhone is cheap and probably hasn't taken them very long. So if it flops, who cares? Wasting time on xbox for people that don't truly care about the MGS series would be a terrible thing. Anyone that cared would have popped that fanboy bubble they were hiding in back in June and got a PS3.
Bring on MGS5 for PS3, KP.
