New Duke Nukem Forever Image

Okay, so sit back, grab a glass of eggnog, and prepare for a classic holiday jest. 3D Realms has been stringing the unassuming along for over a decade now, and just when the hype begins to die down, they toss out a little update or a new screenshot of some kind.

We've already told you that this is the most amazingly elaborate hoax in the history of the industry, but hey, we always like to play along when the spirit moves us. What you see here is the new screenshot, released by 3D Realms as a holiday gift to all you loyal devotees who have spent the last 10+ years following every new "development." Yep, it sure is pretty. To be perfectly honest, we're a bigger fan of the bottom pic at their website; see now, that's a wallpaper worth having. As for the fictitious game itself, there's no information on any new progress or occurrences, but then again, how much can you really reveal about a game that doesn't exist? Well, just keep tossing out some Photoshopped images and tease us every now and then with something vague that makes good headlines, and we'll keep lapping it up. We admit it. We're suckers for this kind of thing, and we know you are, too. Come on; it's okay to admit it!

Of course, if DNF ever actually comes out, we'll be forced to eat our words. But considering the game probably won't release until 2052, we'll be too old to chew much of anything, anyway.

Ahahahah that's a great one! I'd be amazed. What would really amaze me if in January they just released the game with no hype and it turned out to be by far the most amazing game/FPS ever made..And of course, a PS3 exclusive that uses all the space on the BR drive.;)

DNF is coming out, and it will be badass. Sure it's been 11 years, but that's only because 3DR was doing an experiment.

Now that they know how long it takes a million monkeys on a million typewriters to come up with Shakespeare, they're setting the monkeys to work on the story.

And since nothing can really rival Shakespeare, the story should take those monkeys just a few months...

After that, they just have to rewrite the engine and graphics for the next consoles coming out, and then it'll be ready to release.

But it's coming! Just you wait and see. Those who don't believe will get special buggy versions... Which is just about everyone but me and a few other random geeks on the internets...

Sure it's been considered as the top vaporware title from many magazines for the past 10 years or so, but not for much longer!

You gotta hope it eventually comes out. Just imagine all the meals you could get out of that... word soup, wordloaf, word burgers, lightly seared word topped with a lemon basil word sauce over word gnocchi.

I get a weird feeling that there is some huge elaborate plot beneath all this... like judging from the picture, it will be revealed at the end of Resistance 3 that you were Duke all along and his reason for kicking alien ass was because he was "all outta gum".

with all the hype, it's gonna be hard to live up to that.

i mean, even if a fantastic game like Gears 2 was in development for 10+ years, once it released, it would be a little bit of a let down.

Like Too Human, a decent game on its own but killed by it's own massive hype

Hey, didn't it take half-life 2 like 7 years? It was really good..well, I didn't like it that much but most did. (I would like to verify that I think this is a hoax but I like to give things a defense)
