Record Your Catcalls And Heckling For MLB 09: The Show
MLB 08: The Show could very well be the best sports title of the year, so we have super high expectations for the 2009 installment. We expect more realism, authenticity and depth, but we didn't expect what ESPN is calling "Trash Talk 2.0."
ESPN has unveiled a great first look at MLB 09: The Show, and they've announced that if you have a Rock Band microphone or wireless headset, you can input your own catcalls into the game! See, once they're implemented, the voice will actually sound like it's coming from the stands, so it'll be "more like a crowd chanting 'over-rated' and not just a single person yelling." This is the feature that's grabbing all the headlines, of course, but you gotta check out all the rest of it at the link above. They break down the update into separate sections; read up on the likes of Authenticity, Road to the Show 3.0, Franchise 2.0, Online, Custom Music/Replays, Hot Shot Fielding, and some vital stats that further outline the game's commitment to detail. From the looks of it, this game could very well be the deepest and most rewarding sports experience of the new generation, and it's great to see baseball games starting to stand out in the crowd. 2K Sports' MLB 2K series and EA's Triple Play franchise have provided fans with decent titles in the past, but nothing like this.
Stay tuned for more on MLB 09: The Show, which is scheduled to slide onto store shelves on March 3...just in time for spring training.

Had to sign in from school just to post 'bout this.
THERE'S NOT QUESTION 'BOUT IT, THIS IS THE BEST SPORTS GAME OF 2009. Hell in my opinion '08 was the best of 2008 too.
Check out out this quote from the ESPN article:
"Sony promises over 700 new gameplay animations, more than 150 new personalized pitcher and batter routines, and another 400 new presentation animations"
Now on which console can you add that much stuff? Playstation3
It's all 'bout blu-ray letting you really take games farther than ever before.
That's the thing Sony knows will really matter in the future. Devs want to add more to their games, more coding, animations, more music, backgrounds, characters, etc.
There's also going to be time of day in the game. And I'm even betting that there will be weather(would be amazing!). Rain delay impacting your game, so that you'll have to use an alternate pitcher.
This game will be so freaking good! I'm stoked!
Thanks for the article Ben, pumped for the baseball season.
