Resistance 2 Online Tournament Hands Out $50,000 In Prizes
Are you one of those people who boast about your sniping ability in Resistance 2? Or do you claim you can sweep an entire map off the face of the earth with the Wraith? Either way, you should prove your skills in the upcoming "Resistance 2 Online Ladder/Tournament."
SCEA, together with Major League Gaming's leading online tournament site, GameBattles, is offering the best players in the country a chance to duke it out for cold hard cash and - of course - bragging rights. The battle begins tomorrow, ladies and gents, so don't waste another second! This tournament will feature teams of up to four people competing in competitive battles around the country "in an open challenge system." They'll begin registration for the online ladder portion tomorrow, December 22, and it will end on February 28, 2009. After they have determined the top 64 teams, those skilled groups will move on to a single-elimination bracketed online tournament, which runs from March 1, 2009 through March 31, 2009. Over $50,000 in cash and prizes will be given away, so who the hell needs college basketball's March Madness? This is our March Madness! Here's the prize list:
- 1st Place (1 team) = $9,000 per team
- 2nd Place (1 team) = $3,000 per team
- 3rd Place (2 teams) = $1,800 per team
- 5th Place (4 teams) = $1,200 per team
- 9th Place (8 teams) = $750 per team
- 17th Place (16 teams) = $600 per team
- 33rd Place (32 teams) = $450 per team
If you think you've got what it takes, head on over to the GameBattles website and fill out the registration form. Requirements are fairly obvious: you must have access to a PlayStation 3 and a copy of R2 (duh), be at least 17 years of age, and legally reside in the United States. You will find the complete list of rules and restrictions at the GameBattles site, if you need to check those out. Good luck!
