Suikoden Comes To PSN Today
Okay RPG fans, Sony has delivered a very nice early Christmas gift to the PlayStation Store today. Many have complained about a lack of downloadable PS1 classics on the PSN, but they've been amping things up lately, and we really appreciate this new addition.
Today, you will find the original Suikoden on the Store for you to download. At only $5.99, it's an absolute steal for old-school RPG fans; this is one of the original greats on the PlayStation, pre-dating the likes of Final Fantasy VII and although it's now 12 years old, it's still fantastic. Konami's franchise has run through multiple installments since then - Suikoden V is the most recent - and just about all of them have been excellent. It all began back in 1996, though, and if you never got a chance to play the original, now's the time to try it. See if you can nab all 108 Stars of Destiny (unlikely unless you use a FAQ), and in truth, the fact that you can beat this game in only 12 hours or so is actually a bonus. ...because when you're done, you're gonna want to play it again. It features a great story, 6-character turn-based battles, and even full-scale wars that utilize a rock-paper-scissors sort of strategy. Really, you're not allowed to call yourself a role-playing fan if you've never played Suikoden.
So don't bother trying to find a copy on eBay; just jump online and grab it right now! We're hoping to hear about a sixth entry in the series for the PlayStation 3, and if Konami ever drops any information on that, we'll be quick to post an update. ...and no, you may not have our mint condition copy of Suikoden. ;)
