Tony Hawk's Adrenaline: "More Realistic And More Interactive"
Tony Hawk has been skating for quite a long time; he was already an icon in the sport when the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater released on the PlayStation back in 1999. But these days, with EA jacking up the competition, Activision may have to do something new to appeal to an all new generation of gamers.
The competition in question is Skate, which released last year to solid critical acclaim, and the sequel, which is due out soon. But in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Tony Hawk talks about his new video game, and how it will be a "complete departure" from anything they've done in the past. If you remember, this game - called Tony Hawk's Adrenaline - is rumored to feature a skateboard-like peripheral. Why? Because you won't play this one "with a controller in your hands." The skating legend clearly didn't want to reveal too much, but he did have this to say-
"We’re working on a new type of game, and I’ve been even more involved in this one than I have been in the last five games. It’s a real departure for us. It’s a whole new direction for us. And it’s going to be way more realistic and way more interactive. I’m really proud of it. I can’t tell you much more about it, except that it will come out in the fall 2009."
Saying that fans can expect a "more realistic" and "more interactive" Tony Hawk is good news, especially considering the direction this generation is taking with a nod towards realism and authenticity in sports titles. Of course, they haven't really given us a simulation masterpiece just yet (although we have high expectations for MLB 09: The Show), but maybe Tony Hawk's Adrenaline will be the perfect title for skateboarding aficionados. Look for it in Fall 2009, and we'll try to learn more about the mystery interaction...

the thing skate lacks is the fact that you can't do crazy things. The only thing that sucked about the new th games was that the controls were rubbish and just didn't feel the same as it used to
i think it will flop, a skateboard motion thing will cost loads, doubtful people will pay
