PSXE Says: List Your Unwrapped Loot

Okay, so it's the day after Christmas and many of you probably had a few video-game related items on your lists. So how did things go? Santa bring you everything you wished for? Or if you're of another faith, how'd the holidays go? Playing the new game(s) already? Get a shiny new console?

You know, this may seem aimless and posted purely for the sake of fun, but it would help us to know what our readers enjoy, and which of them owns PS3s or PSPs or both; this type of feedback can ultimately benefit you in the long run. ...yeah, that's a pile of crap. We just wanna know what you got. ;) For my part, I unwrapped the Limited Edition of Prince of Persia, Gears of War 2, enough gift cards to go most of the way towards buying either Fable II or Left 4 Dead, and oh yeah, a new Silver PS2. The reason for this is simple- at some point, I may have to get a new PS3 (maybe it breaks, maybe I need the extra HDD space, whatever), and when that happens, I will no longer be able to play PS2 games. None of the new PS3s have backwards compatibility as that feature is gone forever, and besides, after playing PS2 software on my 60GB PS3, I've realized the playback isn't 100% perfect. For example, a lot of the games have some small sound issues; I just beat Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and the drop-offs in sound effects got annoying. Hence, my new PS2, where any and all of my 60 PS2 games will play perfectly.

It currently sits on the bottom shelf below the PS3 in my entertainment center, on the opposite side of the 360. Speaking of which, I've been lucky enough to have a very reliable 360 so far but if that RRoD crap pops up when I go to play Gears...pissed off, I will be. Anywho, I got a bunch of other stuff, too - the entire complete boxed set of "Calvin and Hobbes," cologne, clothes, "The Dark Knight" on Blu-Ray, some CDs and DVDs like "American Psycho," and way too much candy, for instance - but it's your turn now.

I do need one of those slimline PS2 though. My 60Gb PS3 decided not to work anymore and I still have my launch "Fat" PS2.

The New 80Gb PS3 is working perfectly (2 mos old).

Let's see what did I get:

Well, on the 24th I got the box to return my PS3 in. My 60g finally stopped working, have to send it back. But, that's ok, because I'm currently hip deep in Wrath of the Lich King, so while I'd love to play some more PS3 games, I can do without for the time being.

As for presents, I got a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400, Zalman CNPS 9700 NT CPU Cooler, EVGA GTX260, A new sweatshirt, a T-shirt with a caffeine molecule on it, an RC Helicopter and an RC Car.

Wow my ps3 60 gb also broke it wouldnt turn on anymore it would go to stan-by but not power up anyways i got my new 80 GB just in time for christmas and besides the dismissal of ps2 playback im very happy bout it, along with it i got LBP, cod world at war, and prince of persia but in the midst of losing my old ps3 i also lost fall out 3 since it was in the machine when it broke, apparently they were un able to retrieve the game, so now i have to re-buy it o well, merry christmas!

well, there's about 5 adjustment screws missing from the bridge, half the screws holding the pickguard are missing, the tremelo arm is missing, got a cracked nut, the wiring is jacked up, and all the pot knobs are missing as well.

Its like she was a salvage guitar in someones shop. needless to say, she wont play, least not yet.

I got Fallout 3, Socom with the headset, and a $20 PSN card!

I'm digging the headset hardcore!

I wasn't going to buy Fallout at all because it didn't have trophies, but when I put it in my PS3 and it loaded them I was like "oh crap... no WAY!"

Haven't touched Socom yet :-P

I need to decide which PSN titles I want to purchase. I was thinking about either blowing it all on Wipeout HD or going with Pixeljunk Monsters/Eden. Maybe even grab Suikoden.

Lets hope I can get all these trophies before Killzone 2 or Resident Evil.

I hope Ben or Arnold read this. There might already be a section like this, but I think it would be a neat idea if PSXE had a trophy section where we could post all the trophies and our different strategies on how we got them. The forums came to mind but with so many trophies on so many games, it would get so complicated I think.

This comes to mind mainly because of the Pain trophies. Those things are hard as crap to get :-(

I got Resistance 2. I didn't get PS3 for X-mas, I got it on my Birthday =D
I also got Dark Knight on Blu-Ray and Iron Man DVD (store employee said it was sold out T.T). I didn't get much but what's there is there. I'm satisfied =)

The single player campaign of Gears 2 is fun, and includes your standard bad-ass combat you'd come to expect from a shooter. And it looks fantastic. It's the whole cover business that I'm terrible at.

CoD is, obviously, excellent, too. I played some competitive with my friend, and it felt just like CoD 4 WWII style. However, the coop campaign is an excellent addition.

Iv been sniping away at Call of Duty. I love that game like no other.

Online on Gears is great. Seamless play and tons of smack talk for everyone.

I got Little Big Planet, A charging cradle for two controllers, the Dark Knight and Band of Brothers Blu-Rays, some sweaters, money, and of course socks and underwear! :) I am still trying to figure out how to play all these darn games as I still have Farcry 2, COD WaW, Bioshock, Prince of Persia, and now Little Big Planet which I have either not started or played just a bit. Still playing Valkyria and Resistence online currently.

This Christmas was VERY strange. Ummm...where should I start?

My fam wasn't here because they left to my grandma's house spur of the moment (fam issue). So for the 1st time, I woke up Christmas morning alone.

I was stuck in the airport almost all Christmas eve (trying to get to my grandma's house).

I usually have to treat myself for Christmas day but I got:
-Heavenly Sword (I found it for $20)
-NBA Live 09 ($30)
-Dark Knight [Blu-Ray]
-Transformers [Blu-Ray]
-Indiana Jones 4 [Blu-Ray]
-New Plantronics Bluetooth Discovery 925 (now my old one is my designated PS3 Headset. YES!)
-I haven't opened the presents under the tree yet. I'm gonna wait till my fam gets back. So maybe there's a gift card or something for me.
-And this girl I've been chasing for like the whole year came by Christmas morning. She brought a present I'll probably remember FOREVER. ;-)

I got two pairs of jeans, two boxes of cereal and a Jack Daniels neon clock..... But I already have all the games I want right now so I'm good. I spoiled myself before Christmas and bought some blu-rays and games. I really can't think of anything else that I want right now. Although, my parents said they are going to give me a check instead of getting me gifts :) Not sure how much it will be though.

I got 2 Blu ray's: The Dark Knight (which is awesome, just got done watching it) and Wanted (which I'm about to watch in a little while. I didn't get any games but I got giftcards which I spent today on Battlefield: Bad Company, Valkeria Chronicles, and Bioshock. I also got giftcards for the PSN since I have trouble getting my Credit Card to add funds over PSN which I haven't used yet but plan to pick up Bioshock DLC, a couple movies, recently released Suikoden, and maybe Street Fighter HD. It was an awesome Christmas indeed, and I hope everyone had a happy holiday.

Myself I got the 2-BD special edition of Dark Knight, and also got Uncharted and Valkeria Chronicles.Plus for Boxing day bought 2 16GB SDHC cards for $20 each and for $40 a combo clock/6" digital photo frame that plays pics and videos....

Well even though i didn't get anything for xmas (no fam) i had fun xmas night cuz i was drinking a lot.

As far as what i bought myself was Eternal Sonata and Prince of Persia. Having fun with both, although PoP downside is not much combat. more just jumping around all over the place.

I got about 7-800 bucks, undwerwear and "Instant Swedish Accent: the ultimate sex tool" (mouth spray, lol). Seeing that I already have a swedish accent I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to use it for... maybe I'll get some other type of accent if I use it.. hmm. On the package it says that swedish residents should consult a physician before use, I'm a little scared now. :)

No games though, but it's not that strange since games are a lot more expensive over here than in the states, hence the cash so I can buy some myself when I go back on monday!

Mirrors Edge and Socom, socom is no good in my opinion. I didn't get an RPG for xmas like I wanted but there is always next year... On the other hand I did get a ton of candy that will contribute to my diabetes. All I need now is KZ2.

I was happy with LBP and Prince of Persia that I unwrapped, as well as a Blu-ray bluetooth remote, and enough gift cards for a ton of accessories.... or a few games; haven't decided which way to go with that yet.

I have a 60GB Ps3 and Broken PSP(Thanks to my sister)

For christmas I got:
LE PoP
Valkyria Chronicles
$20 Gift Card to Gamestop

I am not sure whether or not I should opt for spending $40 bucks on Resistance 2. It is the only game I wish I had that don't own. I promised myself that I wouldn't buy any new games until Killzone 2 comes out, becuase the moment it does I will drop all other shooters to play it. Does anybody have advice on whether it is worth it to buy R2 when I am going to play it only for a couple months?

I got my older bro a PS3 and Warhawk so he'll stay the hell off of mine! lol I bought myself Soul Calibur4 for the PS3. I got a 49ers jacket from my parents, a wireless keypad for my PS3 controller from my youngest bro, a $10 game stop gift card from my other bro and his wife, and a limited 49ers hat to commemorate their 5 super bowl wins. All in all, good christmas. And its nice to hear lots of people had a good holiday as well.

I got a 360 elite, along with both Gears titles (only reason I want the thing lol) and Halo3, which is also great. And unexpectedly, I got a nice Garmin GPS. Plus a few PS3 peripherals/games/Tropic Thunder on BD/blah-blah.

Great games! I love rally games!
Wow is it just me or does Pacific Rift push the ps3's power to new heights?

Never seen such visuals in an off-road game :O
The uses of lighting is breathtaking......

Everythign really looks great in that game.

It's even more fun than the first one, total chaos, but in a believable non-annoying way, ya know.

Sega Rally = Gran Turismo of Rally, great stuff.

Nothing to unwrap this year. My parents had given me and my fiance $500 for Xmas to spend on Black Friday which we put towards a Samsung 46" 5 series LCD TV we got off Amazon. Unfortunately after two weeks it has a 4" vertical bar where the color looks all psychedelic like it went from 32bit to 16bit color and confused the video color processor. So we got to wait for the repairman on that.

We didn't get each other anything as we needed to save the money for her family, who are visiting us for this holiday week.

nothing too much. same old same old.money,gift cards,clothing. my ps3 with ps2 playback works fine except it sometimes freezes but damn you all got some good games.

funny how i went boxing day and asked a best buy employer what system i should get and he clearly said,

xbox360 for the online play,i hesitated not to make it obvious and said but dont you have to pay for online?he responded with a yes and said ps3 is for blue ray and such then paused and said out of nowhere, xbox is the way to go it comes with a headset,game,etc,etc. lol i seriously thought to myself this guy is clueless in the gaming industry and got hooked up with a job here.

I was reading some stuff at gamepro .com and the xbots are starting to take shots at blu-ray. To make fun of one of the ps3 fanboys, they said he was a "hardcore blu ray watcher".

Yeah... gotta say my Christmas wasn't quite so impressive as some of you guys. Sounds like a lot of you really made out well.

I got the 4th season of Lost on dvd and my uncle who is a photographer gave me one of his older cameras, a Nikon D70, with a brand new lens. That was unexpected but sweet. Though not in any way vid game related. D'oh.

No games for me either. I bought all mine myself as I couldnt wait for them and wanted to play them asap. Only waiting on Left 4 Dead now and I may buy that once it's cheap enough.

I did get the 4th series of Dr Who (I knew I was getting it anyway as my mum showed me it said is that the right one lol). Rest was the usual socks and deoderant and some clothes.

Thankfully it is all over now till next year, the family have all buggered off and left me alone again lol, looking forward to going out with the lads now and getting drunk! :)

2 books: one novel and a record book
I need a Dualshock 3 and I'm done. Still only got a Sixaxis.
I played on a 360 for the first time (my friend's one) and I have to say that it is a very loud console... But it's very nice.
Fable II has very stylised graphics and the dog isn't as great as they said it would be. What a compelling story though.
But on a personal note, I can't believe I didnt get CoD4 earlier! It's such an amazing game! And the graphics are splendid for a 2007 multiplatform game

On BluRay, I also got the Matrix Trilogy and Tropic Thunder.
And a $50 Best Buy gift card from my boss. :)
And a rust-red sweater from my mother-in-law. :P

The biggie: 500 Gb HDD for my PS3. I'm busy loading all my game data files and demos back onto it.

Also, R2 (and RFOM), LBP, GRAW2, GH:WT, and the AC/DC RB pack.

p.s. Don't buy either of the last two unless you can get them cheap like I did. GH:WT is inferior to RB, much less RB2, in nearly every way and the AC/DC is only useful as a way to get those songs in RB2.
