Rumor: Dead Rising Heading To PSN?
You know, sometimes a breaking story is due to nothing more than a well-placed Internet subtlety.
Recently, Capcom's John Diamonon made a post over at the official PlayStation blog, and the subject of that post has generated plenty of debate. Apparently, we can expect a "special surprise" at some point in the near future, and it may involve the Xbox 360 exclusive, Dead Rising. Some believe it's the announcement that a sequel will be headed to the PlayStation 3, but there's another hint: under the post where everyone replies, one poster says - in a joking manner, of course - that it's "awesome that you announced Dead Rising for the PSN, right?" Diamonon's reply is, "Who announced it? Me? I don't think so! :)" See now...it's all about that smiley right there. Can we say the original DR is now confirmed to be headed to the PSN? Well, of course not, but it certainly sounds plausible, and it would set an interesting precedent for the future. What other exclusive titles on other platforms might arrive on the PSN? We all know that the days of the third-party exclusive are just about over, so it won't be surprising in the least to learn that Dead Rising 2 (if it's really in the works) is coming to both the 360 and PS3, but the idea of the original on the PSN is new.
So we'll be waiting for that "special surprise," and if it really is Dead Rising as a downloadable title, that'll make us happy. It was a solid and entertaining survival/horror/slasher game, and would make for an excellent addition to the online library. We'll keep you posted.

If Dead Rising is coming to PS3 at all I'm ecstatic. If I can get without even leaving my house then I guess I'm twice as happy, as long as they don't expect any sort of full price for it. 30 dollars though? I'll be sold day 1.

I WOULD like to see a lot more available on PSN, though, considering the stuff (albeit some crappy) on XBL. If only Sony ported MAME to the PS3 and then licensed the ROMs for a ton of old games to make available!

As I have heard almost everyday about how much stuff XBL has compared to PSN, I was all bananas when I got my 360 this xmas and booted up live. All I have to say is wow! Video content is great but downloadable games - are u effing kidding me? My god I have never seen so much crap garbled together in my life lol. I found about 8 titles that interested me, so I dld the demos, and that number was pretty much reduced to 4. Comparing that to my list of PSN games, well, it's not even close. I think I'm up around 12 dl games on PSN, and counting whenever Fat Princess hits lol.
Not saying that XBL isn't great but you can tell where the quality is versus the quantity that's for sure.

I tried helping the civilians who attacked me when I went near them instead of them following me, the game just wouldn't let me rescue them.
Its defiantly try before you buy game.

Hopefully closer to the $15-$20 range as: 1) it's 2 years old; 2) I can see it being a novelty with little long term replay beyond showing friends different ways to take down zombies. (Even beyond the mulitple endings;) and 3) if it's not on a physical medium, I'd like a discount.
That said, I would definitely be looking forward to this as I fondly remember being attacked by zombies, running into a music store, grabbing a pack of cd's off the rack and whipping them like frisbees at the closest deadhead. I Sliced off one of his hands with the last shot, and then picked up the zombie's hand and shoved it in his mouth! I swear I was laughing like a stoned hyena!
