Clarification: "New" Gran Turismo 5 Launch Date Info Is OLD
If you're an avid searcher of video game news online, you've probably come across the numerous stories related to the rumored Gran Turismo 5 release date. However, this really needs to be cleared up, because all these new updates are based on information that's over 5 months old.
In this GTPlanet update, they clear the air and issue a helpful timeline that should shed some light on the saga of the GT5 release date rumors. You can check out the chronology for yourself, but the gist of the article is this: Import Tuner conducted an interview with Kazunori Yamauchi back in August, and that's where he mentioned a 2010 release window for the next entry in his legendary racing franchise. However, Yamauchi's last official comment on the issue came nearly three months later, when he laughed off the idea of a 2010 launch when speaking with GTPlanet member Ahmed Al Azmi. In fact, Yamauchi said the game was coming "much sooner than expected," and lastly, a SCEE executive is quoted in a Spanish publication as saying gamers should expect a Christmas 2009 release. That is the last bit of information we have on the subject; all that talk about Yamauchi's 2010 quote in an old interview (resurrected on N4G, which started this whole mess) is irrelevant. It's kinda important to get dates right when reporting, don't you think?
Even so, plenty of gaming sources picked up the old story and ran it as a new one; some even called it a rumor that GT5 had been "delayed." Don't listen to any of it, and get the facts straight. GTPlanet worked to sort things out, and we're just adding our own update. We figure there may have been plenty of concerned GT fans out there over the past week.

Summer release would be awesome but I say no way. They'll probably release in November.

As a HUGE Gran Turismo fan this is the kind of stuff I really appreciate.
Wow so sites like N4G were already trying to bash GT5. Doesn't surprise me, most of those big sites are a joke.
Amazing how sites like Kotaku, N4G, Eurogamer LOVE making everything a "rumor" without researching the source material well enough.
Long ways away if it's Christmas 2009, but hey I'll take it, better than a Spring 2010 or Fall 2010 date.
THE best racing game of this gen is just a year away....will keep practicing in GT5P for now.
PS: What I'm really looking forward to are the courses, man Grand Valley better look sick!

If u want to experience the best possible graphics in this generation in 1080p/60fps n up to 16 cars in a track, this is the game. But really, the graphics alone make it worth the 40 bucks.
Plus it has over 70 cars, more than full, finished games like Need For Speeds, Midnight Clubs, Ferrari Challenge, Grid, etc.

Secondly, the physics and handling in GT5P are much different than GT4 so you would do yourself a favor to buy this game and learn to control the cars. Largely because these physics despite some minor changes in the full game will be the ones IN the full game so your skills you get in Prologue will aid you in GT5Full in hard races, in the License exams, yes they're coming and you better earn em or you ain't racing the real races.
I love Prologue, i bought the Japanese version, now i have the U.S. version. Ive played it for a year and i will continue playing it once i refinish Resistance 2 story on Superhuman and start playing online(R2 online, but less time on it)

And I agree with Dante. I say let them take their sweetass time. GT has always been the epitome of sim driving games and if a little bit more time is needed for perfection then so be it.
What would be cool is if some love was shown to Prologue owners and the full version was offered as deeply discounted DLC or trade in disc or SOMETHING!

Shadow, if you can't get into it, i can understand where you're coming from. You're either in or you're out. But bro, if you can get yourself really deep, really into it, there's NOTHING like Gran Tourismo...it is what it is.

Some of the Fastest guys in north america, one of the guys who won the fastest lap competition; Tanner Fousts time trial, was using a control.
I'm not as fast as him but pretty fast, and the way PD also focuses on the control, it does get the job done quite accurately.
