GameStop Offers Exclusive Killzone 2 Demo With Pre-Order

So if you pre-order Killzone 2 at Best Buy, you get a very cool free PS3 theme, and we've heard that if you pre-order from Amazon, you get a free Helghan soldier outfit for your PlayStation Home avatar. But all that is child's play; GameStop appears to have the mother of all pre-order incentives.

As you can see here, they're offering exclusive access to a playable demo if you pre-order at the world's largest game retailer. All you need is access to the PlayStation Network to redeem the promotion code, and this will be available to both online and in-store customers...as long as supplies last. Don't forget about that, because you wouldn't want to wait a month to pre-order, only to hear them say, "yeah, we're all out of codes." Look, this is one game you absolutely will want a taste of before the final product hits store shelves, so get your butts down to GameStop ASAP. Or, if you want keep your current seat and pre-order online, you will receive your redeem code via e-mail on February 3. Well, that's when they'll start sending them out, at least. We figured GameStop would have to come up with something big to keep their target audience from pre-ordering one of the biggest games of 2009 at another location. And so they did.

The only thing is, we're not entirely certain when this promotion begins. It could be active now, or you might have to wait a bit. We suggest calling up your local GameStop just to be sure they have the codes in stock (they usually hand them out on little cards), before you waste a trip.

it's pretty sad that an incentive to pre-order is a demo...But I guess getting keyfobs and cool things like that are slowly dying out...

Killzone 2 sounds so beast. The only thing that makes me a little scared to get it are the trophies. I've heard people saying that a couple of them may be impossibly hard to get?

If you have played the beta, do they have the weekly honor rankings? and if so, how hard is it to get rank 4?

No the trophies being hard isn't going to stop me from buying it... duh.

Hmmm...I wonder if I can still get it if I've already pre-ordered.

Do you know if the demo will be single player or multiplayer?

And, if it's multi, I wonder if it will have more people playing than the beta.

shouldn't the demo be for the ones who are undecided over buying the game, and not for the die-hard, buy-on-first-day gamers? seems a bit strange giving away the demo to those that are going to buy it.

They'll probably release the demo to the public closer to the release date or after the release date. I can't see them only releasing it to those that pre-order.

Man Sony is cheap when it comes to demos. Since half the PS3 games that come out tend to be not-so-stellar it'd be nice to have better access to demos, maybe i'd buy more games (still undecided on LittleBigPlanet, a demo sure would help!). I'd almost be willing to pay for the PSN if they'd put out the demos like MS does for Xbox. Renting is still spending money on the title as far as I'm concerned and I've long since given up the idea of driving to a POS to rent and return anything. I don't even know what's left in my area as far as brick and mortar media outlets.

went to gameestops website and it said online orders will get the demo on feb 3rd and instore members get it immediatly following the pre order. so i called my local game stop and they said that they havent recieved the promotion cards yet and to expect them in the next 2~ 3 days

It's better than CoD 4 & 5. Better than Resistance 2. God of War 3 won't be out until later next year (maybe). Never played Army of 2, and I wouldn't really compare it to Bioshock as bioshock isn't really a shooter.

ok checked gamestop website. in store preorders get the code that day but online preorders grt theres on feb 3rd so i called gamestop they said they havent recieved them yet but to expect them in the next couple of days

I doubt I'll get KZ2 the first one sucked and there are a lot of other games coming out then like Halo Wars and Resistance Retribution.

If you skip out on KZ2 because of the first one, you're missing out. I was in the beta. KZ2 is honestly the best shooter ever. Hands down. In every sense. It beats CoD4 by miles. I'm not even all that into shooters. I played CoD4 mostly because my friends liked to play. I play KZ2 because I CAN'T STOP!!!

All I'm saying is that in the history of games I don't think there's ever been a game that was terrible and then the sequel went on to be one of the best video games ever.

Spartan, I hear what you're saying, but I've PLAYED the beta...constantly. I'm not going by screenshots and trailers that I've seen. Put it like this, I got into the KZ2 beta about the same time I bought Resistance 2. I spent a ton more time playing the KZ2 beta. It's excellent. I've got no reason to lie to you. It's addictive.

dude. i know KZ2 is gonna be good. i read a huge preview on it, and just like the huge motorstorm:PR preview, i know from it that the game will be excellent, PR was great.

Nothing is a must-have game, period. There's always someone who's not satisfied with the final product or who just isn't interested in it. Not saying this game's not gonna sell a lot for a PS3 exclusive, just saying that it isn't gonna be a mega-huge-bestseller either. And it'll likely have no effect on people buying the PS3, since most people who buy the PS3 and most other next-gen consoles are people looking to play next-gen multiplatforms (trust me, most people where I live who own a PS3 haven't even heard of Killzone).

yeah...my boss at my gamestop got me into the beta. Its WAYYYY to fun. I honestly think the beta alone was more addictive than Cod:4 and Cod:WaW.

The first wasn't as bad as most believed. I'd say it goes 50/50, half loved it and the other half hated it. I suggest going to gamestop and buying a used version if you have a PS2 or BC PS3. Get it for the story alone if you must.

Oh and lairfan, how do you know its not gonna be a huge seller? If the hype continues to rise, and the beta and demos continue to impress everyone, then there is no way for it to FAIL.

Tell me ONE person who has played the beta or ONE preview site that had anything bad to say about KZ2. To me, sony should market the game much like Halo 3 was marketed. (remember the banners across 7-Elevens across the country?). Halo 3 was EVERYWHERE.

I understand Halo 3 didn't live up to the hype, but the previews weren't overly impressives to begin with. KZ2 should be the ultimate halo killer, which the 1st KZ failed to do.

Why else would Microsoft release 2 Halo games around the release date of KZ2? Trying to steal some thunder? Punks....
