Free Radical Future Still Uncertain

It wasn't exactly a happy holidays for developer Free Radical, which was forced to lay off 75% of its workforce and close down to enter administration in December. And right now, the future remains very hazy for the would-be creator of TimeSplitters 4.

Prior to this unfortunate occurrence, Free Radical had hinted at a Haze sequel, despite the failure of the original title. We also know they were working on the fourth installment in their well received TimeSplitters franchise, and that game may still have a future. At this point, it's all about generating interest from investors; if someone wants to pony up the cash, they could become Free Radical's knight in shining armor. Essentially, they're looking for a buyer and right now and the administration company - Resolve Partners - is issuing a plea to investors:

"We are inviting all interested parties to come forward. Significant interest has already been shown and we are hoping to make further announcements by the middle of January." (source- HEXUS.gaming)

The question is, who will be willing to take the chance this year? Haze turned out to be mediocre and sold very poorly, but at the same time, there are plenty of TS fans out there. Provided Free Radical does their job appropriately and TS4 turns out just as good if not better than prior installments, it should be a smash hit. But before that even has a chance of happening, they're gonna need some help...

either sony should cough up the money and help them for another first party developer

or EA may step in and add them to their list, seeing as they published most of the games Free Radical made

It's gonna happen. There is no doubt in my mind that someone will publish TS4.

I would be just as happy with a HD version of Future Perfect.

The LOCAL multiplayer was so fun. I don't like playing serious shooters with my friends. It's so much more fun when Edwina is getting chased down by a raging duck and a serial killer bear.

*applauds* You are so right about this. I've played more Timesplitters than almost any other FPS. :)

Give them a chance to redeem themselves dude/ette! Sure the fist one wasnt the best by any standard..but it was WAAY to madly overhyped. This one could be good butwill be seriously underhyped which is good for everyone. And your also wishing away TS4 by them with that statement.

They would have to somehow go the route of Killzone to Killzone 2, and unlikely breakout hit.
