Traveller's Tales To Give Rock Band The LEGO Treatment?
I suppose our first question would be...how the hell would this even work? Would there be something special about playing the same game, only with LEGO characters? Feel free to think of your own sarcastic snippy remark after we're done relaying the news:
Evidently, the Videogaming247 blog says that according to one of their sources, they're now "100 percent certain" that Traveller's Tales is working on a LEGO version of EA's uber-popular Rock Band franchise. ...yeah, what? Well, on the one hand, the LEGO games have proven to be both solid and popular in the past, and it would make sense that TT wants to latch on to the mainstream explosion that is Rock Band. But on the other hand, the entire purpose of putting the LEGO twist on franchises like "Star Wars," "Batman," and "Indiana Jones" is so gamers can enjoy a different, light-hearted interactive version of an iconic set of action films. Essentially, Traveller's Tales bases their LEGO titles on movies, not other games. It'd be silly to "LEGO-fy" other games. We don't really have a problem with the developer cashing in on big-budget movies all the time, primarily because the games are really quite good (and usually far better than any other game based on those movies). But we really don't get this LEGO Rock Band idea; it just seems so far out of whack.
Yeah, Traveller's is looking to make more games based on Warner Bros. stuff, so that might include a LEGO Harry Potter, but Rock Band? We just can't see it. But hey, we've been proven wrong in the past, so let's just wait and see what happens.
