WarDevil "Progressing To Plan"
Typically, if it has been over three years since we saw early trailers and previews, we assume there have been massive - and perhaps even crippling - delays, and there's a chance it may never arrive. We lost track of WarDevil after being treated to promising CGI videos way back in 2005, so we had very nearly abandoned all hope...
But thanks to a recent interview with UTV (the company that owns developer Digi-Guys and publisher Ignition Entertainment), it seems like we might finally see the long-awaited launch this year. Digi-Guys sent a fresh update to GameCyte yesterday, which read:
"We'll be releasing new material in 2009, but when/how is in the hands of our Publisher - therefore, we must keep to their schedules. WarDevil is progressing to plan - it has a long development process as we're creating an Engine, a Game & Short Movie and each of these elements can take a lot of time on their own."
We've already heard about WarDevil Chronicles, which is the short animated sequence that should release alongside the game. So clearly, this is a robust and ambitious project that might actually need all this time to produce. However, we're not going to make any bold predictions until we see that "new material," although we really hope that WarDevil will grace store shelves at some point this year. Based on everything we've seen and heard (as old as some of it is), we definitely eager to learn more, and this is one action extravaganza that just might become a top-notch must-have. ...after more than three years, it had better be.
