WarDevil "Progressing To Plan"

Typically, if it has been over three years since we saw early trailers and previews, we assume there have been massive - and perhaps even crippling - delays, and there's a chance it may never arrive. We lost track of WarDevil after being treated to promising CGI videos way back in 2005, so we had very nearly abandoned all hope...

But thanks to a recent interview with UTV (the company that owns developer Digi-Guys and publisher Ignition Entertainment), it seems like we might finally see the long-awaited launch this year. Digi-Guys sent a fresh update to GameCyte yesterday, which read:

"We'll be releasing new material in 2009, but when/how is in the hands of our Publisher - therefore, we must keep to their schedules. WarDevil is progressing to plan - it has a long development process as we're creating an Engine, a Game & Short Movie and each of these elements can take a lot of time on their own."

We've already heard about WarDevil Chronicles, which is the short animated sequence that should release alongside the game. So clearly, this is a robust and ambitious project that might actually need all this time to produce. However, we're not going to make any bold predictions until we see that "new material," although we really hope that WarDevil will grace store shelves at some point this year. Based on everything we've seen and heard (as old as some of it is), we definitely eager to learn more, and this is one action extravaganza that just might become a top-notch must-have. ...after more than three years, it had better be.

John: I'm pretty sure that Chronicles isn't the short movie. The short movie is supposed to be high quality 3D stuff. Chronicles is supposed to be some short 2D stuff, sorta like those Clone Wars shorts from years ago.

It is. Chronicles is a short 2D "sequence" of sorts, which is what I changed it to.

Haha, like FF XIII.

I have no idea what to think of Wardevil so I'll just let those digi-guys do whatever it is they have to do, there is plenty of scheduled games to get amped about already.

Im not sure about this project. I saw the other day that one disgruntled investor into Digiguys was getting sued cause he incorrectly stated the project had been cancelled.
Maybe this is one of the games Sony is keeping a lid on for now...
Sony is the publisher right?

There should be a rule that states a developer/publisher may only give "new material" IF and only if the game is being released within 8 months

I liked the teaser for chronicles on their site but come on this game should have a release date by now.

The plot's been kept pretty secret. The only time we've even seen the game was in two tech demos in 2005 and then in 2006. Apparently you are a dude (I think) and you kill lots of other dudes (or something similar). Not much help was it.
