New I Am Alive Details Surface
Since the announcement, we haven't heard much about Ubisoft's survival/disaster game, I Am Alive. But thanks to a recent feature article in UK magazine GamesTM, we have more details to relate, so pay close attention, Edge of Disaster fans.
First up, this game is not being produced by the super-cute Jade Raymond, who was responsible for producing Assassin's Creed. Perhaps this came about due to game journalists desperately wanting to attach a pretty lady pic to their I Am Alive updates, but either way, this responsibility falls to Alexis Goddard, who spoke to GamesTM. First of all, we will receive a first-person view that isn't quite so weapon-oriented; as Goddard said, they "encourage players to use tactics, diversion, and discretion." As an example of what to expect, an empty shotgun can still be quite effective if the person you're pointing it at isn't aware it's empty. Furthermore, as this really is a "disaster" game, the developers want the player to "really feel the power of Mother Nature, to feel the danger coming from the collapsing towers and devastating rifts, feel the chaos happening..." Goddard added that "there's nothing like a first-person view to create that kind of emotion."
We can't wait to hear more about I Am Alive, as it sounds both engaging and original (something this industry needs more of). We do expect it to release some time later this year, although Ubisoft hasn't issued an estimated launch date. Keep it here for more news as it becomes available.

Any news about how it will play? I watched the trailer last night.

Glad u guys liked it. I liked it too...for about 4 hours. Then the game just felt like a job. The flags had no purpose. There was no incentive to do extra research on your targets. That whole little DNA Memory/"Lay down onto the machine" was unnecessary and a cheap way to tell Altair's Story.
They claimed that u could kill ur targets anyway u wanted to, but that was totally untrue. There was always two choices:
-the "start a riot and kill everybody in ur path way"
OR
- the "sneak and use ur hidden blade stealth kill"
I mean, COME ON....that's not medieval assassinations! Where's the food poisoning? Where's the instigation and propaganda tactics? Where's the creative "booby-traps"? Where's the disguises (not that cheap "LOOK, I'm monk" move?
AC was a BIIIGG let down. Its the only next-gen game I purchased, beat, and then traded back in. It had potential. And delivered on a couple of things it promised. But overall it was a pretty mediocre game. Pretty nonetheless...but still mediocre.

The gameplay, I thought, was great, but really it was the Biblical settings and locations that I really loved. Rarely has a game nailed a historical setting and time period so well. And the dialogue... wow. Absolutely stellar writing.
I understand wanting more ways to kill your target, but honestly, having any options was pretty cool. The game doesn't force you to go at it just one way; fail the stealthy approach, you can still chase the target through the streets. Fun stuff, if you ask me.

I'm glad that Jade Raymond isn't producing a game. How could a producer let a story as bad as Assassin's Creed get out?
