White Knight Chronicles Causes 16% Boost In Japanese PS3 Sales
It certainly helps when you produce a game that will appeal to a particular audience's tastes, doesn't it?
White Knight Chronicles launched over the holidays in Japan, and despite some lukewarm critical reception, the PlayStation 3 owners really flocked to pick up Level 5's new RPG. The game sold 132,000 copies on its first day and over 200,000 copies in its first week, and now, the weekly Media Create numbers show that this caused a 16% boost in PS3 sales. Yesterday, Level 5 CEO Akihiro Hino confirmed that WKC would be coming to North America at some point, although its release may or may not have a significant effect on PS3 sales in this region. The good news is that, upon closer examination of that average Famitsu score for the game, it appears as if the online portion is lackluster, which dragged the overall number down. However, the single-player is great - or so we've heard - so that should come as a relief to RPG fans, who typically only want the single-player experience, anyway. And obviously, any drawbacks didn't stop Japanese gamers from picking up the game. Hell, a lot obviously bought a PS3 specifically for WKC!
Being an old-school RPG fan myself, I'm very much looking forward to Chronicles, and I'm willing to forgive any online snafus...primarily because I won't go online, anyway. Anybody else feel this way?

All i know about WKC online play is that its independent of the story mode which i think is not that bad since they can always update that part of the game and add features to make it better over time. Anybody knows how the online part of the game plays like?
