Brutal Legend, God Of War III, Uncharted 2 On Tap For GDC 09

Everything moves so quickly in this industry; if you stand around analyzing one event for too long, you're bound to miss the lead-in for the next event.

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas concluded this week, and the next industry gathering will be held in San Francisco in March. It's the annual Game Developer Conference, and according to DevelopMag, many big-name titles will be on display. First up, Double Fine's lead simulation programmer Paul Du Bois will host the "Robotic Testing to the Rescue Seminar," which talks about the benefits of their automated testing framework used for Brutal Legend. Then, we'll get a special programming presentation called, "Practical SPU Usage in God of War III," which should be great for tech buffs who are anxiously anticipating Sony's hot action title. Thirdly and lastly, Naughty Dog will be on tap to handle a few presentations that will involve the original Uncharted, which is why everyone is assuming that Uncharted 2 will make some sort of appearance. These are key games for the 2009 software lineup, and we can't wait to learn more about them. Also, we may see a few big announcements at GDC 09, and many are hoping one of them reveals a price cut for the PlayStaiton 3...

Anyway, we'll keep you apprised of all the developments in March, because we don't want our readers to skip a beat. There will be a whole lot of "in-the-know" people at GDC (there always are), so stay tuned!

This is great but I really want Team ICO's game to be there. Those games are special and memorable to me. All we have is a single, vague, screenshot from last January. Vague is good when it comes to the ICO games, but I want a vague trailer.

I also want the new Twisted Metal to be there. David Jaffe said they are getting the game ready for a very important Sony Dog and Pony this month.

Oh, and for you splitscreen lovers, Dave said on his blog in reply to someones comment that split screen is extremely important to him. I know how people are always complaining when games don't have it. I hate splitscreen, always have, but I know I've seen people talking about how they need it to warrant purchases and what not. So good news for you split screen loving TM fans.

Personally, I love games that utilize split-screen co-op and split-screen competitive play. Regarding co-op play, there is no substitute for being able to play a game with your buddy sitting next to you. It allows for the best coordination and communication between players. Although, online co-op has come a long way in mimicking this experience.

Online co-op also eliminates the bad side effects from playing a game in split-screen mode. Such as, degraded graphics, and not being able to play with a full picture at a high resolution.

The big downside of online co-op: you (and your friend) have to own two consoles and two copies of the game (and two Live Gold accounts, if that's your system of choice).

...which is probably the real reason why companies are choosing not to include split-screen.

PSXEXTREME did an article a few months ago that said 4 player co-op would be included in an update after the game releases.

Are you sure? I've been on the Killzone 2 forum and there's alot of rebuttal against that (and related) idea/s.

Be very interesting to see how far Uncharted 2 is along. The trailer looks stunning(btter, imo, than GOW3 but we still have to find the "Jaffe footage" yet)and I'm really hoping to see some gameplay-particularly the new stealth element to the game.
GOW3 is another matter altogether and seeing as they are doing a tech talk I expect something dazzling. Seeing as the trailer was underwhelming after hearing Jaffe and his "painting come to life" spiel anyway so they have a little to prove and shut everyone up.
By this time we'll all be killing each other like there's no tomorrow on KZ2's excellent multiplayer(I don't know about splitscreen but hopefully)and the bar for PS3 grfx will have been well and truly raised but the two games mentioned have the ability to live with GG's behemoth. Lets hope they don't disappoint and we can put behind us the "Gears2 is the best looking console game" claims for good.
Come on chaps-make it so.

The trailer we saw for God of War III wasn't the same one Jaffe saw.. so hopefully and maybe his video is G-O-a-W-some, <-- see that? xD

So Brutal Legend looks pretty average and Jack Black is an annoying creature. Now GOW3 and U2 looks amazing.

U2, (hah like the band), uncharted 2 is the only one hat interest me at the mo. i loved the first one and want to love the second one. i haven't joined many titles for there first release (mgs4, not mgs, Motorstorm2, not 1, cod4, not cod1, burnout paradise, not whatever the first one was, fallout3, not fallout1, and some others.) So as uncharted was not only my FIRST ever video game, and one of my top favourites, i want to see it never fail. Sorry, but i need at least one title which i have alwats been behind, and uncharted or LBP, uncharted all the way.
