God Of War III Coming In Q1 2010?

Thus far, the status of God of War III has been very much up in the air, as the hopeful and optimistic put the game's release in 2009, while the negative and pessimistic say it won't arrive until next year. According to V for Video Games, things are looking up from a development standpoint, but 2010 is a more realistic time frame.

It seems as if the Santa Monica studios are in "full steam ahead" mode for GoWIII, as they've recruited "a new batch of highly talented employees" over the past few months. Furthermore, the "core structure of the game has already been completed," and they're pushing forward with the highest quality production in mind. On the downside - although the realistic may have expected this - God of War III is expected to hit store shelves "around Q1 2010," which would fall right in line with the releases of the first two entries in the revered franchise. Obviously, this is a very rough estimate and is subject to change, so there is the possibility it could be moved up to Q4 2009 so as to coincide with the holiday rush. Then again, maybe Sony won't want it to compete with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and the possible launch of Gran Turismo 5. Timing is crucial when it comes to raking in sales for big titles, and perhaps even more important when you're competing against yourself...

Right now, the 2009 lineup looks pretty damn solid so perhaps it won't matter too much if GoWIII doesn't launch until 2010. On the other hand, gamers are always looking for the next huge title that comes down the pike, so Santa Monica's project will always be under the spotlight until the game releases.

As long as they make it right and in the true GOW style, I can wait for it. I prefer polished over rushed to market.

U know im not surprise at all i knew it wouldn't release until 2010.. i think its great because i think theres more than enough exclusive an multiplats games coming in 2009.. with SONY hitting everyone with KZ2 Q1 of 2009 an then Q1 of 2010 hitting them with GOW 3, WOW!!!!!!

They are perfectionists so they will take their time with the development cycle. I also think it is good to spread the great AAA titles away from each others spot light. Last years October/Novemeber fest was like all great games at once.

i actually think that with all the top releases slated for this year, it might be a good idea to push this back till Q1 2010. I even believe that Killzone2 and Street Fighter IV are being released too close to each other. $60. is hard to come by these days for the average person, far less for $120. next month.

Developing games for this gen is really taking time,i guess reason for cancellation of games like getaway 3,it coulda taken forever before it's release,seeing as original getaway for ps2 took 5 years of development.

It's all for the better, man with Uncharted 3, a new Ratchet and Clank, Heavy Rain, inFamous, etc. I'll be set all year.

GOWIII needs to be the next game which redefines the ps3 after MGS4/Killzone2, so it's good that they don't rush it.

It's obvious that GOW III would come in Q1 2010. It's going to be super polished! Nothing short of legendary! 1080 HD, bigger & better battles(hopefully Hercules), & a greater storyline. It will trump GOW II. they'll need those few extra months!

Wow, think about this. If what Jaffe saw in 2008 made him wet his pants...and with what we've seen from the trailer...and what we've seen the PS3 CAN do with Killzone...imagine how UTTERLY RIDICULOUS this game will be after another year of development. We're going to need new words to describe just how SICK this game will be!

I get the feeling that by the first quarter of 2010, the ONLY competition Sony will have will be themselves.

We know it's not gonna be vaporware so I'm fine with waiting as long as it's coming. I got a feeling the developers are playing it smart as far as PR goes as a later projected date is better then a bunch of earlier ones that keep getting bumped ahead, imo.

I actually want it to come out 2010 as with gt5. I know sony is going to have another great year but i don't think sony needs it to release any time soon.

Well 09 release along with price cut in holiday season would sell a hell lot of ps3,Though this being the last gow is enough to make people worried of the quality, so yeah don't rush but defenetly don't due what kz2 did.That is delay the game 3 months just so it does not compete(R2 vs KZ2) I would have delayed R2 instead & in that case I would also delay U2.

I think if they did KZ2 in November (or, whenever it was R2 released), and R2 in February, KZ2 would STILL hurt R2 sales. I certainly wouldn't have bothered buying R2 if I already had KZ2 at home.

but because kz2 missed holiday season its sales are bound to be worse, and I think kz2 would have sold more ps3s. Same because gow3 has more fanbase it would also probably sell more than u2 and push more units. though wkc sold more ps3 than mgs4 so you never know.

Its kind of bad as well as good to delay games, that is mainly a Nintendo thing for there big hitters are always delayed etc.. but Imagine if you have Killzone 2, Grand Turismo 5, RE5, and GOW 3, all at the same time etc... how do you manage time to play these epic titles. That would be to hard for me!REALLY!

I like to see when developers don't rush on games, i hate when a game comes out and needs to be fixed the day you try playing it due to a glitch of some sort, this game will redefine what the PS3 is all about i don't doubt that. till then i'll have more than enough awesome games to play!
