Amplitude May Come To PSN, Sequel Possible For PS3?
Okay, I'll step right up and admit it: Amplitude is one of my favorite games of the last generation, and I still play it to this day. Oddly enough, I'm not so into the current generation's music games...guess I just can't wrap my mind around it if I'm not using my fingers, and only my fingers. ;)
Anyway, according to Videogamesblogger, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, Alex Rigopulos, said there is the possibility of a sequel. During an Offworld interview, they asked Rigopulos if there were any plans to bring the critically acclaimed and relatively popular title to the PlayStation Network. And his answer was as follows:
"I would love to. That game is still close to my heart. I love it. Id love to do a sequel to Amplitude, actually. Its an issue of prioritization For us, that lingering question of 'what are we going to do about Amplitude' is still very much out there. I would love to come back and do it right for the PlayStation 3, for example."
Now, that's cool. We'd love to see how they might go about making a next-gen Amplitude, and if you're not familiar, the original was all about rhythm and reactions. Basically, you had a few set tracks that this weird spaceship would travel along, and you had to hit the right buttons at the right times, switching between tracks and stringing together entire sections. If you want a closer look, check out the video. We'll keep a close eye on this one; any rumblings of a new Amplitude, and we'll be sure to let you know all about it.
