Amplitude May Come To PSN, Sequel Possible For PS3?

Okay, I'll step right up and admit it: Amplitude is one of my favorite games of the last generation, and I still play it to this day. Oddly enough, I'm not so into the current generation's music games...guess I just can't wrap my mind around it if I'm not using my fingers, and only my fingers. ;)

Anyway, according to Videogamesblogger, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, Alex Rigopulos, said there is the possibility of a sequel. During an Offworld interview, they asked Rigopulos if there were any plans to bring the critically acclaimed and relatively popular title to the PlayStation Network. And his answer was as follows:

"I would love to. That game is still close to my heart. I love it. Id love to do a sequel to Amplitude, actually. Its an issue of prioritization For us, that lingering question of 'what are we going to do about Amplitude' is still very much out there. I would love to come back and do it right for the PlayStation 3, for example."

Now, that's cool. We'd love to see how they might go about making a next-gen Amplitude, and if you're not familiar, the original was all about rhythm and reactions. Basically, you had a few set tracks that this weird spaceship would travel along, and you had to hit the right buttons at the right times, switching between tracks and stringing together entire sections. If you want a closer look, check out the video. We'll keep a close eye on this one; any rumblings of a new Amplitude, and we'll be sure to let you know all about it.

Don't worry ben, I got your back. I still play my copy of amplitude AND Frequency. I just love remixing on those games. I've been hoping and praying for a new sequel to those games. And my prayers have been answered.

it died along with the Dreamcast :( just like Bangai O and Some RPG called Evolution. It's been released on the PSP. Capcom could release power stone on the network that's all you can hope for ):

Ben, I'm really starting to believe that you and I are twins separated at birth. Or else, you're a future-version of me that is sending website updates into the past...

I've played so many hours of Amplitude. It was the song "Cherry Lips" on the demo of it from OPM that made me want the game. I was almost able to beat the whole game on Insane difficulty. I managed to get to the last arena, but that was as far as I made it. My highest score on a single song was just over 4000 points on "Shades of Blue" on Brutal difficulty.

Good night, I loved that game...

put it this way, if it's like WipEout and on bluray, i'll see. no idea what amplitude is, and still don't like the idea of using my cred card on the store, even though you can delete it, i have to get my mum's permission and i don't know if she will like the idea of that. i want PSN gift cards. like itunes giftcards. i'm in europe though. while i am a digital man, hard copies still fell slightly more reassuring than knowledge that you have it on your hard drive/

I LOVE both Frequency (which I got signed by Freezepop) and Amplitude, and would love to see a sequel. The only problem I could see, though, is the PS3 controller. The triggers on L2 and R2 make the games near impossible to play at the higher difficulties--at least for me.

However I'm still very happy to hear Harmonix hasn't forgotten all us old FreQs.
