Killzone 2 Gold, Ads "Everywhere"
You know, we get the sneaking suspicion that somebody over at Sony is carefully watching PSX Extreme. It's like, part of some random programmer's job, or something. You may recall our recent article regarding Sony's lack of advertising and marketing, and lo and behold, Sony assures everyone that Killzone 2 will most certainly be known the world over.
Okay, we know it didn't have anything to do with us, but it's still good to hear. In a recent post over at the official PlayStation blog, where SCEA Santa Monica Associate Producer Mike Graham confirms that Killzone 2 has gone Gold, a follow-up comment has gotten some attention. Graham further confirms the existence of Trophies (which we already knew), and then says, "And I can also say that you will be seeing Killzone 2 ads everywhere very soon. Our Marketing guys have been working their tail off." HA! Oh no, we're not being skeptical, we just love the idea of Sony actually promoting a huge title like Guerilla's massive blockbuster. The news that the game has gone Gold and is now ready and rarin' to go for February 27 is good enough, but we can't wait to see those ads. Thing is, we didn't really see enough of them for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2 (the PS3's exclusive power trio of 2008), and it was very disappointing. We said Sony can't make that same mistake in the near future, especially where KZ2 is concerned.
And thankfully, it appears they won't. Let's hope the ad blitz starts within the next few weeks, and you won't be able to avoid mention of the name throughout the next month. Seriously. We normally don't like getting pounded over the head with ads, but it'd be a novelty for a PS3 game, right?

Now don't get me wrong. I know that Killzone is gonna crush, just by hearing all the positive reviews and hearing some community members on here in the beta.
I'm just taking this with plenty of salt...

That guy in the Crash suit was great. It rivaled that old Super Smash Bros. commercial. I wonder if youtube has any of those old ads. I found some old PSP ads. Those were weird, a lil' offensive, but entertaining as hell.

PS3? Not so much... so far.
Sony really needs to fire its ad agency.
Sony should have had way more advertising for R2 and LBP. If they advertised them properly, especially R2, those two games would have sold more copies during the holidays.
Hopefully Sony's idea of "tons" of advertising is not akin to the R2 and LBP campaigns, which could have been more encompassing.

Thats cool MetalHead, a lot of people are Zeitgeist followers and way to eager to jump at stuff like that as fact. No biggie. Im not too religious but it is HARD to explain the prophecies of some spiritual people. Props for wearing it on your sleeve.
Have you ever heard of August Burns Red or As I Lay Dying? Those are kick ass Christian bands.

or they might opt to duck out like they did with resistance 2 by having most of the commercials in cinemas, what was that about??
It better be a kickass commercial too, that makes you wanna go out and beat (shoot?) the crap outta something! lool

I'll believe this when/if I see it. I cabnnot remember ONE showing of the r2 ads on English TV(if I hadbn't seen them on YouTube I may have thought they were BS), can remember seeing one ad ONCE for MGS4 on TV and IIRC three or four for LBP(after release when MS were hurling Gears2 ads every break AND making out Dead Space, TR, PoP and Farcry2 were 360 only releases AND those bloody Lips Ads every two and a half seconds)so if they plan to save cash on marketing chaps don't be shocked toget the call as sandwich board men OR asking if you'd seriously have your hair "Killzoned".I honestly fal to grasp how they could do less personally.
Now they're sayingf they WILL advrtise KZ2 because it's aleady selling pretty well? Of course that's a fine "drive the point home" campaign tactic but does that tell us that R", LBP, MGS4 et al weren't selling enough so got no support? Might it not have shifted some units Sony?
So I'm baffled. They finally admit to needing to advertise games yet another suit at the same time is issuing a satement saying the ads must be scaled back? Oh Sony, with these crazy mixed messages you are spoiling us. Then again here in SCEE territory we're told of a magical game-SF2HDTR they says its called-but depite being assured of it's existence by our friends from Japan , The US and everywhere else we can't see it! Even our 360 using mates in our continent claim to have played the mysterious release!
So forgive me if I don't want to jump onboard the "everythings sensible in Sony's business plan" train just yet-cos they don't half tell me some rubbish at times.

Just incase Sony really is reading our posts, take my advice Mr. or Mrs. Sony worker:
In order to get your point across, you absolutely HAVE to get your ads into the super bowl. And maybe even during the America's Best Dance Crew and American Idol shows.
Or if you want to save some cash, you could pay homeless people in all the major cities to grafitti it all over the place.
