Patch 1.40 For Resistance 2 Detailed
It was one of the best games of 2008, and secured awards for Best FPS and Best Multiplayer Game in PSX Extreme's Game of the Year Awards ceremony. But hey, you can always make a great experience even better, as Insomniac has lifted the veil on a new patch for Resistance 2.
Patch 1.40 will be available on Monday, January 26, and it will automatically download when you attempt to play the game. It's a monster fix-it update, as the first thing the patch targets is the unfortunate happenstance of players having their online rank reset to Level 1. This patch will remedy that situation, and in some cases, will restore your lost XP, stats and attributes and give you everything you should've earned since you lost your levels. The patch also changes how some Trophies are earned, there will be new Clan features, they've instituted some "Match Balancing" procedures, and more changes and upgrades have been made to the Competitive and Cooperative modes. As for weapon alterations, the splash damage on the Pulse Cannon can now damage the player firing it, the Rossmore reticule "better reflects its accuracy," fire is easier to get rid of, and players can't switch weapons in the midst of a melee attack. For the entire list, head on over to the official PlayStation blog to read Insomniac Community Manager Brian Intihar's detailed post.
Resistance 2 is the best FPS available right now as far as we're concerned, but it probably only has a few weeks left in its reign. Killzone 2 comes out on February 27 and then, as great as R2 is...well, you'll see.

If BioShock had multiplayer it'd put R2 to shame.
Roll on Killzone 2, then we can have a proper FPS to play.

None of that is true. It never glitched on me in the slightest (and I've seen no such complaints in any review I've ever read), the story is no more "paper-thin" than it was in the original, and the single-player campaign boasts about twice the diversity and general intensity, with the added bonus of far better pacing.
Not sure what you people are talking about when it comes to bashing R2. I really don't get it.

All in all I think this sucker would have hands down been just what the doctor ordered; if not for the tiny problems on top, maybe stronger weapons.

when i paid >$90 aud. then they will resell it for anything between $60-$100 aud.
then they have these things "Trade 3 ps3 games in, and get this game for HALF PRICE!!!"
uhhh...okay? lol
on topic.
resistance 2, never glitched for me, it was a step up to the original, and thats all it was.
when the heat wave here ends (anywhere around 40 degrees celcius everyday) ill start playing my ps3 again, cuz atm im scared it will melt.

i suppose i could just play a level over and over till i get the level i need to get the trophy but thats no fun.
