AIAS Awards Nominees Revealed: LittleBigPlanet Dominates

Yesterday, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) announced the nominees for the 12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards. For our part, we're very glad to see one of last year's most impressive and innovative titles take home the most number of nominations (10): LittleBigPlanet.

Media Molecule's excellent platformer was nominated for the prestigious Overall Game of the Year and Console Game of the Year awards, along with 8 others, and that's fantastic news. Other multiple nominees include Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, and Left 4 Dead, but with 10 total nominations, LBP is the toast of the industry. This is not the SpikeTV video game awards; this is the equivalent of the Academy Awards for our industry, and this kind of reception from the AIAS is amazing. Said AIAS president, Joseph Olin:

(Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit 2009, which takes place on February 19 at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. Actor, comedian, and "proud game enthusiast," Jay Mohr, will return for his fourth year to host the ceremony.
