New Rumor: Eidos Adding More Blood, Sex To Tomb Raider?
We're already aware of the makeover Eidos has planned for video game icon Lara Croft, but as you can see, it was initially expected that it would be more of a "family-friendly" renovation. Now, the opposite possibility has arisen.
According to India.com, the new rumor is that the next Tomb Raider installment will be rated "M" for Mature, which would be the first entry in the long-running franchise to earn the more adult-oriented label. It seems Eidos wants to move past the standard "T"-Teen rating in order to re-energize the waning popularity of the busty heroine. Eidos has already laid off 30 employees at Crystal Dynamics and the publisher's shares dropped 25% in one day after they lowered their profit forecast due to lower-than-anticipated sales of Tomb Raider: Underworld. Therefore, they have concluded that Lara definitely needs a revamping of some kind, but we're not entirely sure which direction they're going to go. Will they go for the more family-friendly, less sexy version, or are they simply going to add more blood and skin? These days, it's hard to say which approach will work the best; the Wii rules the earth but many of the best-selling titles on the PS3 and 360 are "M"-rated. Whatever happens, though, it's going to be interesting.
If you don't already know, Alison Carroll - pictured here - is the new model for Lara Croft, and the other rumor is that Megan Fox will replace Angelina Jolie in the next "Tomb Raider" movie. Yeah, we'll keep you updated on anything Lara-related.

I think tomb raider has just kinda been played out. Maybe if they make the shooting mechanics more like Drake and make the game play quicker. They could do something like Prince of Persia with guns, but a bit less acrobatic. Or go all the way and be a Prince of Persia shooter coupled with Max Payne.
Or maybe I'm going overboard and all these ideas are shallow..

I imagine that going more mature would certainly garner more attention than going family friendly. I'd certainly rather have M rated than E rated. Of course adding a nude code will generate all the sales they could ever hope for, lol.
