Bionic Commando Swings Into May

Initially, we had thought the game would release towards the end of 2008, but we don't blame Capcom for wanting to get it right. And hopefully, it'll be well worth the wait.

Capcom has revealed that Bionic Commando is now slated for release in May, and we can't wait to get our hands on the next-gen swinging action. We've seen plenty of footage thus far - just peruse our videos section - and every new trailer is quite promising. That Bionic Arm in sweeping 3D ought to be fun, and as Capcom reminds us, it has been "upgraded to deliver a range of devastating attacks that allow Spencer to quickly traverse the game's diverse environments." And it's not just about movement, either; you can use that unbelievable mechanic wonder to lash out at your enemies. Not only can the Bionic Arm be used as a melee weapon, but you'll also be able to toss all kinds of stuff at your foes (including boulders and cars). If done correctly, this could be one of the more unique and entertaining titles we've seen in a long time. The competition is always stiff in the action category, but...I mean, come on, this is Bionic Commando! Who would've ever thought it could look like this?  ...what 2D classic might be next on the remake list?

In the meantime, if you're in need of an old-school swinging fix, you can always jump onto the PlayStation Store and pick up Bionic Commando: Rearmed.  It's definitely worth your time.

cant wait :-D, thnks for the info.

I would rather wait for a game to be perfect then for it to come out, well, wrong, so props to capcorn for trying to get it all done before release instead of loads of useless updates.

The Jury is still out on this one. Let's hope for a demo.

I agree. I was a big fan of the original on the NES, one of my favorite games from tha era, but this game still has me on the fence.

I'm not really a fan of the player model, and until a demo becomes available I'm unsure how the grappling mechanics will really feel.

Will it be nearly worry free swinging like Spider-man 2 where the web attaches to the nearest structure or does it require precise aiming while in freefall?

Definitely a wait and see game, here's hoping it's at least as good as BC: Rearmed.

I think this could be sweet if they can distance themselves from it being to "Spiderman-y" I like the looks of it but it really does have that Spiderman feel to it as willmorse pointed out. I liked the Rearmed very much and am looking forward to giving this new 3D take a whirl but it won't be a first day buy for me it will most likely be a wait and hear the reviews on it before spending 60 bucks. I am looking at you Arnold and Ben. Which ever one of you do the review I can at least count on it being legitimate.

Capcom's really going all-out. RE5, SF4, this, maybe Dark Void, just a ton of big games coming out. Last year was practically a joke in comparison, 2009 is their year.
