Killzone 2 Demo Now Available For GameStop Pre-Order Customers
You pre-ordered Killzone 2 at GameStop for a reason, didn't you? It wasn't necessarily to secure a copy for yourself come launch day, it was to get a small taste of the game before launch, right? Well, you've been sitting there patiently with your little code, and now, the wait is over.
If you log on to the PlayStation Store today, you can start downloading the hefty 1207MB demo, which will probably take a while. However, after playing, you'll realize you would've sat there all damn day for the operation to finish; KZ2 is just that glorious. This is the same demo that currently sits on the European PlayStation Store, and as the Videogaming247 blog reported earlier, SCEE says the demo is "flying off the servers." That's not exactly a surprise, and if you're wondering why Europe gets special treatment in this scenario, just remember that Guerilla is a Euro-based development studio. As far as we know, the demo won't arrive for everyone to download on the PlayStation Store in the U.S. until the week of the game's launch, so you're one privileged gamer to have that download code from GameStop. On the other hand, maybe you're certain you're going to buy the game anyway, and you don't wish to spoil your appetite by indulging in the demo at an early date. We can understand that sentiment, but you must have Godlike willpower...
Even if you're not a FPS fan, you should still be part of the KZ2 experience. While it may not be accurate to say the game is revolutionary, it would be accurate to call it evolutionary. And you don't want to be left behind on the evolution chain, do you?

In fact the controls seemed better when I was playing the online Beta... regarding the graphics... definitely the best GFX I have seen; amazing propriety game engine... I don't think the COD games will come close, not even CODVI...
I am sure a patch will be released to fix these small annoyances... I still think it will be a great experience all around...

"After a bit, I had gotten proficient with the controls, but they never felt as sharp as I wanted them to be. Everything seems to be a bit slow. I certainly got accustomed to them, but I never stopped wishing that they were better. I would gladly sacrifice some of the heap of visual effects that Killzone 2 drapes over my screen in exchange for a peppier, more intuitive set of controls."

Yeah I went through the same jargon you guys wen through. I was at the worst Gamestop location when I pre-orderd Killzone 2, the mall location. They were out of Demo-cards there as well but the stupid clerk felt the need to tell me after I forked over my paper Abe. It doesn't matter because I should of asked first before I paid. I played it safe by going to a neighboring store and telling them my situation. They were really stand up and handed me a demo-card. So the lesson of the day is ask around if your nearest Gamestop is out of the demo-cards. Gamestop are idiots but are humans none the less, they probably saw the anguish on my face when I came barreling in there brandishing my recepit and crying about how the mall location was out of Killzone 2 demos.

And as for the controls if you go to options and use control "Alternate 2" it plays just like COD4 except for the circle is used for action.
Don't forget to check the box for "Hold to zoom" for the L1 button.

I found that somewhat frustrating as well, I'm cool with keeping the magnum, (it packs a great punch and has infinite ammo!) but it would be nice to have two slots for swapping found weapons.

Back on topic: demo was fun, but short. Though that just means I'll play it multiple times to hold me over till the end of the month.

have u tried configuring the controls using a dif. scheme, i really like alternate 2 and ive seen others say that as well, it resembles COD alot and is very easy to use. as for the magnum its a B****** gun in fact just screwing around i went through the whole demo just using it despite when i had to blow the bridge, its very affective, why it has infinite ammo cant answer than one for ya. anyways played the demo yesterday played it today noticed new things everytime, it amazes me. I still have no complaints not even that its short cus in reality it comes out in 3 weeks lol why complain about a short demo when the finished product is literraly right around the corner, love it!

Gone through the demo many times now, knifing is a blast.
I can't get enough of shooting those red tankers near the end of the demo so they fly around a bit then explode.
Then I canceled the pre-order from Gamestop and pre-ordered it from Amazon and saved $12.
KZ2SAVE5 promotional code to save $5 at Amazon.

Killzone 2 is a game that should be showcased in every audio/video HD theater/gaming system, BAR-NONE!.The demo is a technical marvel in it's own right. Want innovation? How about setting a standand in the visual and over-all quality department for all other first person shooters?.
Sorry but from now on (even with this demo) I will judge future FPS to this standard of visual and over all quality. Damn fine job Guerilla. Finally, something better than GoldenEye.

"Hey folks,
I have been looking at this with one of our Game Designers and we are starting to come to the conclusion that this is down primarily to the design decision to make the game weightier. Killzone 2 is not a 'twitchy' shooter like some of you might be (rightfully) accustomed to and we think it might simply be down to some growing pains on some people's behalf. In this demo we also did not add the section that comes before this where a player would naturally climatize to the controls and have simply dumped you on Corinth River, so I think a lot of these complaints will be negated by the players natural progression through the full game.
So at this moment we are not considering it a bug, or anything that needs to be patched.
We do suggest however not having the sensitivity on full as this can make the appearence of a delay seem more aggressively. Work your way up the sensitivity scale slowly as you become more accustomed to the game.
Also seeing if there are any post-processing settings on your TV you could shut off without negating the visual quality of the game or if you have a 'Gaming' setting to try that as few TVs are set up as standard for gaming and often require some tweaking.
This does not mean we are going to pull a blanket over our heads and stop evaluating this and looking into it and allowing you guys an adjustment period and I will pick this up with some coders on Monday as well to see what they say.
What i am however interested in, what FPS games have you just recently or are playing currently. The majority of people on here seem to not have any issues adjusting and we think it might simply down to a certain mindset more than anything, which is of course of interest to us too from a playability standpoint.
I would also like to take this opportunity to ask you all to show some restraint and keep the forums a bit more tidy. We pride ourselves here on having a mature forum and encouraging healthy discussion, but the past few days it has been anything but healthy and a lot of the conversations have simply been drowned out. So please take a deep breath, take a break and if I have any more information about this I will let you know. I'll try and be on here this weekend, but with the massive amounts of posts and threads I can't promise to read and react to everything. I do after all have my actual job to do :smileywink:. I also want to thank those of you that have helped identify what is going on and to let you know that we will continue to take on all constructive feedback to help us make better games.
Have a good Friday folks.
