Rumor: Dead Rising 2 Set In Vegas?
Well, it's time to ask the million-dollar question: is...it...legit?
This YouTube video seems to show a teaser trailer for Dead Rising 2, but there are a few problems with that conclusion. Firstly, despite any supposed "confirmed" rumors you may have heard, Capcom has not made an official announcement concerning the existence of a sequel. Secondly, without any real source behind the posting of the video, it's impossible to label it as solid fact. But it seems to work out, doesn't it? You've got the allusion to "the Willamette incident" (home of the zombie slashfest in the original), some mention of a drug called "Zombrex" that is "almost completely effective" in stopping the spread of the zombie virus in the body, and then, the Las Vegas-style environment. Now, it would make perfect sense to us if the sequel took place in Vegas or a fictional town similar to the city of sin, and as far as we're concerned, we're gonna call this a leaked video. "Leaked," as in, it came from an official source but shouldn't have been released in any form just yet. GameSpot doesn't think it's bogus, and although we can't issue anything official, we have to agree.
Capcom hasn't announced the game, but if/when they do, we're just assuming this sequel will be multiplatform. Yes, the original was a Xbox 360 exclusive, but times have changed drastically since then and Capcom's position is clearly one of a multiplatform developer and publisher right now.
