Rumor: Just Cause 2 Set For Q3 2009
The original had a great concept and some entertainment value, but remained crucially hampered by technical issues and design implementation problems. We've had high hopes for the sequel, though, and it completely skipped our mind that it didn't drop in 2008.
The game's developer, Avalanche, issued a statement that Just Cause 2 would launch some time in 2008, and that obviously didn't happen, so we're still waiting on some official news. Well, according to the Videogaming247 blog, it will finally hit during the third quarter of this year. Like most major next-gen releases these days, it will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Details are still a little scarce, but we do know that the main character, Rico Rodriguez, will return in the leading role once again. We've also heard rumors about the new environment, which will be larger and more interactive the whole way 'round. At the very least, we should once again experience a high-octane action blast through a colorful, violent setting with plenty of bad guys to eliminate. Many compared the original's sandbox style to last generation's Grand Theft Auto titles, and the comparison is relatively accurate. Of course, the sandbox approach is pretty common these days.
Whenever Avalanche or publisher Eidos decides to release any new information concerning Just Cause 2, we'll be sure to let you know about it. Eidos' recent difficulties may have had something to do with the game's delay, by the way. Just tossing that out there.
