Killzone 2 DLC "Soon After" Release?

The single-player campaign and multiplayer options will be more than enough for you when Killzone 2 launches in a few weeks time. But a game can always benefit from the addition of downloadable content, and according to European gaming site PS3Sense.nl, DLC won't be far behind the release of the hotly anticipated shooter.

Of course, we all figured KZ2 would get DLC of some kind, but Guerilla has never confirmed what it might be, or when it might arrive. It seems they spoke to PS3Sense about it, and "soon after" the February 27 launch of the game, we can expect to see new content on the PlayStation Store. The rumor is that new maps and character skins may be in the first batch, with something more significant - like extra weapons and even new gameplay modes - will drop on a slightly later date. If you're wondering, there are 12 available multiplayer maps for Killzone 2, which should be enough to satisfy your needs for at least a little while. As for the rest, we're anticipating normally priced DLC packages that have become a fixture of this generation for major game releases. Of course, with all this talk of an eventual shift to 100% digital - which we still don't see happening any time soon - an entire game like KZ2 might, one day, be available for download. Until then, we'll just continue to buy the games as we always have, and take advantage of the extra online stuff.

We'll let you know when Guerilla decides to lift the veil on this downloadable content, and exactly when it'll be headed to the Store. Obviously, with this "soon after" comment, we're thinking March...

Agreed. We're dying to replace Halo2 with something more modern - not to mention that wireless controllers would be sweet.

Anyone know of any games this gen that have splitscreen multi (versus)? Maybe I'll take it to the forums...

The FPS games I know of with split screen multiplayer are COD4 and COD5

There's also Haze if you're really desperate and fancy playing a shite game...

It might not be multiplayer but maps yes skins II dont really care for hopefully the dlc is free but if not II will still pay for extra maps lol

Man in my opinion i doubt that they are going to give more maps at this time, I mean come on 12 maps should be good for a couple of months... I think the first dlc is going to have vehicles and a couple other things... I'm guessing that this is going to be like a Warhawk type of game... Think about it, they're not making a sequel any time soon.. Who knows maybe they'll make it until the next generation of consoles arrive... They are givin DLC instead just like they r doing in warhawk... But anyways even if it's not free you know that most people will get it... All I can say now is "February 27"....

I don't think so. Cover would rework the whole mechanics of MP. Plus I believe people would start to camp bad like in Raindow Six Vergas if they did.

Can't wait for this game, it's release date is the day before my birthday :) crossing my fingers that i'll get it for my birthday, we'll see what the husband decides. I have a big list of game that i would like.
DLC so soon, hopefully it's free. If not it'll be probably well worth the price they give it.

if they had common sense, the dlc content should already be in the game, assuming it is coming soon after the KZ2 launch. but then again, there currently and probably, manufacturing and preparing to ship KZ2, so too late i guess lol

I go with what you say, but I think with 12 MP maps and as good Class System, they releasing an Great Game that isn't Half-Assed. Im going with the Hunch that It will Include on Mondo Map (AboutHalf or a Third the size of Warhawk Map) That includes 4 diffrent Vehicles to use!?!?! One Can Dream lol

Hope they follow the burnout trend & add to the game until they realease a new ip or kz3 wich is ither going to be at the before the ps4 or on ps4. Hoping that they ad coop mode,map editor 4 multiplayer maps & user generated missions.

if they brought dlc so soon after release it would be icing on the cake... the game it self will be great no doubt.To be honest i could do without vehicles. COD W@W brings out the worst in them, as a player there is too many perks to want to carry extra grenades and all the explosives to take down a tank in one life, i realize theres a point where u have to equip yourself to surroundings but its not worth it to waste your time on one enemy, then u wait to re-spawn and try again, but every time u re-spawn your right next to a enemy tank lol its horrible, and its almost like taking out a tank is an objective now, so the only reason i say bring vehicles is if the maps are big otherwise dont even bother cus my objective isn't to take out a vehicle in capture the flag, although there may be a sense of realism somewhere, it leaves a bad taste! Vehicles can be good though i guess especially in big maps so i guess im open to it if its done right, and im positive they can do a better job than what COD brought on all levels of game play! so ill buy the dlc regardless cus this will be my game to play for a long while!!!!

Agree with u bigrailer... I have to say that I'm not a big fan of vehicles in a FPS game.... Not only do u have to worry about your objective, you now have a sub objective that blocks ur real objective. Sometimes vehicles can ruin the full experience... hopefully it wont in this game,,, please

12 maps? At every other site and every other article I have only seen that there are 8 maps.

Makes sence, the game could have shipped for christmas but they decided to polish it up a bit. But not every person who made the game is needed to polish it so they probably started early on DLC

Some DLC would be cool, free or not. But I have to admit, with the great looking SP and the deep/complex MP , I dont think DLC will even be on my mind for a while.

I hope the DLC keeps coming for this game. New maps, new weapons and new vehicles. I want to be playing this 6 months from now and still feel like there is more to do.

Killzone 2 is going to be alot of fun!
